My son and his Mego Spidey

When I first found out we were having a boy, I was excited that I could introduce him to cool things like Mego superheroes and started buying some for him. Well, now he's 2 years old, and he still doesn't care too much for them. He'd much rather play with cars, plastic containers or kitchenware. I've been waiting to get a nice pic of him holding his Spidey, but he hardly pays attention to it. When I try giving it to him, he hands it back to me! At least he knows who Spider-man is. When I ask "Where's Spider-man?" he points to each and every Spider-man toy in the toyroom. I'm hoping he'll develop better taste in toys when he gets a bit older. At any rate, this is the best I can do with a picture of Alexander and Spidey.

He's in a room full of cool toys, and he just wants to play with the radio. I guess I should be relieved.

Right now boxes and wrapping paper will be his favorite items!

Soon enough "Dad Spiderman's head came off!"....
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Oh man! He is just too adorable! He'll be on those Megos soon enough. Maybe you should start him off on that hokey Itsy Bitsy Spider Spider-Man first.

Thanks! Actually I hate that singing Itsy Bitsy Spider-man. It's waaaay too hokey. We did get him a stuffed talking Spider-man though. For some reason he sounds like a California surfer dude.

I'm sure he'll be more interested in my stuff when he gets a bit older. I guess I should just appreciate his lack of interest at this point. The ground rules are already (hopefully) being learned though: he can't go into daddy's room if daddy isn't there. Hmmm, I might have to get a lock for the door one day.

My youngest daughter's first word was Spider-man.
She was about 18 months old and when we would walk
around Woolworths and she would point at all the Spidey
            stuff and say "Guy der-man"

My other daughter's first word was Dolphin...

He's adorable! While I never got my son too interested in Mego, he is a superhero/japanese tv nut who accompanies me to every comic/toy show I visit so I'm never lonely...

Me and my Daughter Esme always watch Doctor Who together...I love it.
                  I treasure those moments.

It takes time! My son got hooked around two and for about 4 years everything was Mego, until he discovered Star Wars. You just need to casually watch the Spidey 67 boxed set of DVD's while he's awake and around, soon he'll be looking for HIS spidey!

Thanks for the comments, guys. Believe me, I'll do everything I can to be a "bad influence" as far as superheroes, old monster movies, and Japanese robots are concerned. But so far, it's mostly The Wiggles and Ampanman (Japanese cartoon about a cute "superhero" who has a head made out of bread. That one is my wife's influence).

That's very cute. Every kid should have a Mego Spidey.
