    WATER DAMAGE or what?

micro01.jpgmicro01.jpgmicro3.jpgmicro4.jpg I admit it's partially my fault for not looking at all the pictures before buying. But I could never allow a toy in this condition into my collection. I'm having some trouble with the eBay seller that provided me with this little"gem." I'm wrote to the seller stating that mildew/rust/warpage indicate heavy water damage. The seller is denying my assessment and calling me names. I mailed the toy back this morning hopefully the return is processed without any problems. I originally thought the seller didn't understand why this transaction is failing, now I understand the seller is crooked. I'm interested in knowing what you other collectors think. I'll provide the seller with a link to this thread. Thanks.

Well, to be honest, the item you received is truly the one in the pictures. Yes, the stuff underneath the plastic bubble looks nasty, but it is in the photos in the original listing. As a buyer, you accepted it in the condition shown. The seller might have made the item sound better than it really is in the description:

CONDITION: Never opened, Sealed on card, no bubble holes or cracks, sealed, the card showing age wear and spider veins. See photos.

That's technically true and omits any mention of the crud underneath the bubble. The water damage/warpage is one of those things that's hard to see in photos, but is obvious when seeing the item in real-life.

However, the seller said in the listing that he/she will give a refund if the buyer pays return postage.

      Return policy
After receiving the item, contact seller within

      Refund will be given as

      Return shipping
      30 days

      Money back

      Buyer pays return shipping

So, I think you're justified in returning the item. Hopefully you will get your money back, and the seller can get his/her eBay and PayPal fees back. It's a "no harm, no foul" IMHO.

Just chalk it up as a learning experience. So, on the next auction, just be sure to examine every photo and send the seller any questions before you bid.
