    Scavenger Hunt

I passed this by Brian and he said he was intrigued.

I got the idea from a post where someone wrote about a scavenger hunt that was held on another forum.

This is how it will work:

    a. Entry fee $10.30 (30 cent paypal fee)

(optional) $1 booby prize fee, these $1's will be combined to buy MM raffle tickets and given to winner of a drawing

    b. Everyone who enters will submit 25 items to be found

    c. All the submitted items will be placed in a "hat" and randomly drawn out. This will keep anyone from submitting an impossible item to find, because you could possibly get some of your submissions back.

    d. The first person to collect all their items (or takes a picture of the item with them in it) wins. If there is enough people entered, I will look into a second place prize.

    e. Every item found must be in hand or a picture taken with item and person in the picture (non-movable items, i.e. landmarks, statues).

I was thinking for a prize, a pre-paid Visa card. I am hoping for atleast 30 people to enter so we can do a $200 1st place and $100 second place prizes. (prize(s) not set in stone, taking suggestions)

I will get a member who is not participating to assign the items to be found. I will get them to use a "random number generator" to pick them.

You can obtain the item anyway you want, purchase, find, borrow, etc. You will need to just submit a picture(s) of your items with some kind of proof that you have them (i.e. MM in the background on your computer).

You can be as general or specific as you want for your items submitted. For example, you can say "Ronald McDonald", this could be as easy as a Remco figure or a menu with him on it, but if you say "Statue of Ronald McDonald in front of restaurant", the person searching for it, will have to have a picture of themselves with it.

You cannot just download a picture of the item off the internet.

    OK, who is in?

Good idea! I was the one who originally posted about Toyfare magazines Scavanger Hunt.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

Sounds interesting, will there be a time limit, IE two weeks to try to find everything?

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

No time limit, first (and maybe second) person to complete their list wins.

Has anybody here other then myself and Greyhank participated in the Toyfare scavanger hunt? Or read about it. I recommend looking it up in some back issues just to get an idea what was done.

OK, can I get some commitments? So far, it looks like me and Joe D, and some maybe's. No money is needed right now. I will collect entry fees when I have atleast 15-20 people, so the minimum prize can be determined.

I was asked if a toy prize can be won instead of money. I would like this and if some one has a nice carded/boxed figure they would be willing to sell for the amount of entry fees collected, I will do it.

I thought about an Ebay gift card, but than I figured a Visa gift card is good anywhere.

I was also thinking of making the entry fees $11.30, and the extra dollars would buy raffle tickets from the Museum, and these would go to the 2nd place winner(or 3rd place if enough people enter and we get enough for a prize for 2nd place)

Just a suggestion in case non-American members want to enter: choose general items that can be found anywhere.

I thought of you, because I know you did the the Secret Santa. I am figuring most items will be pretty general. I am planning on submitting around 20 fairly easy items to find and 5 VERY difficult items to find.

From what I understand, one of the hardest things to find on the hunt from the other forum was a blue spork.

^^^ It's a spoon/fork combination like what they use at Taco Bell. Most come in white at fast food places. So blue would be tough...unless you paint it.

Another way to do it would be a points system. Easy things - Low points Hard things - high points. Higest point count wins if theres a tie then who came in first time wise.

Sporks- Painting didn't count. There is a supply place in Texas that carries them in colors.......... Oh yeah and me I have a case of 90 or so LOL

Some ideas of things to find.....

A magazine with a specific person or thing on cover.

A green army guy doing something specific. Grenade thrower, radio guy, minesweeper.

A band patch from any group.

                            A 8 track tape or 45 record
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.

I still have no conformations of who wants in, any takers?

That would work, but too much logistics to keep track. I like the way I have it is here where the items are randomly assigned and it is just a race to complete, it will be alot easier to administrate. As for who comes in first, every post here is time stamped.
