Up Close: Removable Cowl 1966 Batman by Figures Toy Company

The last wave of 1966 Batman figures by Figures Toy Company were met with a flurry of interest but the spotlight most definitely belonged to Batgirl and Barbara Gordon, hardly anyone spoke of the latest Batman variant that was also in the wave.

That’s a bit of shame because it’s a Removable Cowl Batman, something that almost every toy company with a “Mego Like” Brand has attempted to replicate over the years and well, it’s not always been entirely successful (eh Hasbro?) so a better look at this figure is definitely in order.

If you like this figure it is available at our sponsor Entertainment Earth. You can follow them on Twitter @EntEarth and using the hashtag #ICollectatEE makes them smile.

    Wow, that looks really nice.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It really is, I had zero interest in another Batman but when it came in it was the first one off the card. Very smitten with this.

I do not regularly buy remegos or even Megos. But if I can get a deal on it I'll have one. And I'll be looking.

I love these up close pics. The figure looks great! Thanks for posting. Hope to see Cheif O'Hara like this too.

NICE! NICE !! NICE!!! Great pics Brian. That completely sold me. I'll be getting this figure and most likely the rest of the series. I think what I like most about the RC West Batman is you get that cowl shadow over his eyes that really gives him that authentic 60's look. They never could quite convey that with the molded on cowl. Very nice!

my problem mostly with this figure besides being a variant is that the head sculpt looks nothing like Adam West

I said it on the FTC page and I'll say it again. That figure is really nice. The cowl looks like a cowl, not a hoodie. Bravo FTC!

Yeah, this figure is nicely done, and the strength of it helped make up for the disappointment of Batgirl. Also, Toycade offered us a great deal on the set, so that pushed me over the top and I bought the set.

Does he have the proper longer belt?

Yes, the new Removable Cowl Batman '66 has the longer bat utility belt, which makes displaying much easier.
