Is there any other format of figure that is as poor as the re-Mego?

Not a chance!! The level of garbage being produced is amazing!
    Heads don't fit.
    Outfits don't fit.
    Bodies break in package.
    Bodies don't pose.
Accessories don't work in figures hands.
Accessories don't fit on face or on head.

It seems like all the companies making these figures have issues that other collector communities would not accept.
Why can't quality be produced? All the companies are guilty of putting out inferior product. Not everything produced, but the majority of it. It seems like if they all got together, they could come up with some quality product.

If your sculptor can't sculpt in the right scale, it doesn't matter how accurate the likeness is. It still is not acceptable. If your pattern doesn't fit the bodies the outfit is made for, get a new one. The customizing community on this forum can make way better product than the professional companies. That isn't an opinion, it's a fact. I've tried to help some of the businesses out with suggestions, but none were taken. Some materials used are totally wrong for the application they are being used for.

I don't even collect much of what is being produced nowadays, but would if it was better quality.

We will never have quality figures be made for us.

Since I'm not feeling well, I figured I'd vent a little about my doll frustration. Please feel free to ignore me.

I would not put all re-Mego's in that category.

IMO, Brick Mantooth/Super Collector is probably one of the nicest figures I've ever seen - from looks to quality.

You could probably throw that figure off the Empire State building and it's wouldn't bust.

I keep reading this negativity everywhere but just do not see it. I've purchased a truck load of this stuff and have had little to no issues at all, other than some over-sized heads. The only crappy bodies I've personally experienced with re-mego were the SMDM guys who pretty much broke minutes after opening them if they weren't broke upon delivery. The FTC stuff, EMCE and Neca re-mego product has been fine with me.

The fact that this much mego product has been made available in this day and age, with lines like TV Batman and Super Friends, etc has me actually pinching myself like a dream come true. The fact that this comes with this much bee- otching from grown men who collect dolls is annoying. We fell in love with mego figures, warts and all. I love mego's Aquaman (with Spock ears) and Shazam (with yellow cape and sucky head sculpt) because they are toys. I don't think these are supposed to highly detailed like Hot Toys. I admit the large heads bother me and tight clothes suck but dude....I own a freakin' Adam West Batman!!! I own a Samurai and a Apache Cheif!! And they look awesome!

In my opinion, life is too short to pee and moan about flaws in dollies. Collect them if you enjoy them. If they make you mad, why bother. If one looks off to me I just don't buy it.

That all said, Brick Mantooth and Captain Canuck are the bomb! We actually bring Brick along on our family vacations.

The quality of the old CTVT bodies that were made in India were bothersome, many of those broke right I the package, but they have made definite improvements since then. It's always disappointing when one breaks, but thanks to the elastic band construction and abundance of parts and donor bodies I'm glad I can usually make repairs if needed without resorting to glue and tape. What we get now isn't perfect, but I appreciate the fact that there are so many mego like figures available. Only a few short years ago new megos were few and far between.

I agree with Brown Bear...yeah, there's been some hiccups along the way, but geez...in the last five or so years we've gotten figures from:

              Universal Monsters
              Six Million Dollar Man
              Battlestar Galactica
              Dukes of Hazzard
              Flash Gordon
              Star Trek
              Batman 66
              Super Friends
              Dark Shadows
              Ghostbusters
              Planet of the Apes
              Modern Horror
              New DC
New Marvel...and that doesn't even include the stuff that's coming! Scooby-Doo, etc.

Who would've ever dreamed we'd have this many great figures?

I was sick last week (only ended up being a four day cold, and I love anything that stays less than a week), and I am working on this huge project for work. No additional resources, doing my regular work and covering vacationing, or sick co-workers, so the "brain trust" calls a half hour meeting at 1:30 that lasts over two hours on the final day I am there before my vacation days. I let them have a little sick quy frustration at the end that probably didnt do much for my career advancement plans. So, I feel you, Lonnie, sometime you gotta vent and feeling "off" never seems to make the situation better.

Also Lonnie, believe me when I say quality issues are NOT exclusive to ReMegos...DC Collectibles Batman TAS figures are more brittle than grandma's hip and their limbs are notorious for snapping right off. Same with 7" and 18" NECA figures. I broke TWO 18" Adam West Batmans right out of the box before saying the hell with it. Never did buy Robin for that reason. Both my 7" Michael Keaton and Christopher Reeve figures broke at the knees, the latest Sideshow 1/6 C-3PO costs $250 and the entire run has backwards thumbs on both hands...then there's Hasbro's ridiculously expensive Star Wars Black Series with some of the worst paint apps I've ever seen. Choose from derpy-eyed Luke Skywalker or mutant eyebrows Jango Fett.

This is why we all love Hot Toys.

Not everybody. I think they're pretty but overpriced. Some of us, still like toys to be....toys.

I have zero interest in Sideshow or Hot Toys.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
