Update: Mego Superman Promotional Shopping Bag from 1976

This is an original shopping bag Mego sponsored at the DC Comics Super Con in 1976. This New York event was held at the Commodore hotel in February of 1976. Mego also placed an ad in the special issue of “The Amazing World of DC Comics” that was handed out at the event.http://www.megomuseum.com/galleries/...bag-from-1976/

Yes, totally agree. I see they have Superman pictured on the bag, curious to know if Supes was the best
selling or most popular DC Mego at the time?

No, that was definitely Batman, but Superman's costume happens to have some of the requisite RED that could match the Mego logo… and since both bag and ad were simple 2-color jobs, the Man of Steel worked well. In 1976, Superman was probably top 3 or 4 in sales among WGSH.

Superman was also, unquestionably, DC's top character. He was the flagship character. Today, that's kind of questionable. History says he is, but unfortunately, sales of both comics and merchandise say otherwise.

What a great piece! I wonder if Neal Adams has ever signed any of these?

Love it, as well. That's the Superman I remember as a kid in the 70's.
