Up Close: Scarecrow from Figures Toy Company

While reproductions are fine and all, we here at the Mego Museum are always more excited when a new ReMego character is produced. Especially when it’s a character like the Scarecrow, this bat villain has been long overdue for the Mego treatment and Figures Toy Company has made it happen in 2016.

Released as the 3rd wave of their Kresge style Superhero series, Scarecrow is one of the more eagerly anticipated figures in the Batman pantheon. I must admit to making my own in 1978 out of cardboard and old Action Jackson clothes, without too much bias, I can say this one is better.

So, as with all of our “Mego Museum Up Close” features, we let the pictures do the talking.

Like what you see? You can order him at our Sponsor Entertainment Earth right now.

Awesome photo display Brian! He looks really good. I'll need to pick one of those up. Question - Is his hat made of plastic or is it like the Batman '66 series hats that are composed on soft vinyl (or rubber) to allow a good hold on the head?

It's a soft vinyl Tom, slightly rubbery. I heard a few complaints that the hat is too big and yeah if you put it straight on, it'll cover his eyes. However, I tipped it slightly for the photos and it was fine.

If i was a kid playing with it, it would drive me nuts but as an adult collector, it's not really going to be an issue.

Looks awesome the face kind of almost gives that Freddy Kruger vibe, great figure and a nice added villain.

Those colors give him a Halloweeny vibe, which I think is completely appropriate for the Scarecrow. I was going to get him eventually anyway, but now this review is going to make me want it sooner than later.

I picked this guy up and I think he is really cool. He is the first FTC DC re-mego I got and I love it, and I don't even like DC!

Well, as an adult the hat bugs the crap out of me, if you turn it sideways it sort of stays put. But it really stinks that it doesn't fit right, especially at a premium price.

stick some plastic or foam up in there and I am sure it will stay better

for 30 bucks I shouldn't have to do that. There seems to be a lot of fixing/settling on all of these figures from FTC, EMCE or whoever. Lots of short comings for a "collector" figure.

I don't have mine yet, but I like the look. It works for me for both an extension of the regular DC and Superfriends. Depending on what FTC does I'll probably get two and tweak them.

I'm thinking about doing an acetone shrink on the hat, other than that its a great fit to the'66 line, too.

In my mind I picture a head more like WoOz, an actor in make-up. I am rusty on my '66 knowledge, did any of the male villains wear anything more elaborate than an eye mask?

I'll be the lone dissenter and admit I'm not that impressed with the figure. I'm not even sure I can put my finger on why.
