How well did the Deny Fisher DR WHOline sell?

I guess this question is for our members across the pond, I'm wondering how well the Deny Fisher DR WHO figures sold back in the 70s, were they a huge seller, luke warm you know so-so, or they couldn't find a discount bin big enough to hold them all , I really like the figures and have noticed they are not easy to find

in my opinion nothng was a real "huge" success over here until star wars hit the cinema and the shelves

denys fisher made some real cool stuff... i was poor so i never had any of it back then but ive dealt in them since.

lots of toys were so so popular in my book, you had the denys fisher stretch armstrong and the green monster... rare as rocking horse crap now but lots of kids had them back then, you had the 12" super hero line if you could afford 1. of course nothing came close to a action man wit grip hands or eagle eyes at the time... then star wars, bmx, big trak, in my opinion there were cheaper toys more available to anyone that hit bigger, rubik cube, snake, globe, keyring, and yo-yo were huge sellers
im not saying denys fisher dr who line wasnt popular of course it was but not ground breaking.

there would be some who fans i know that would want to ring my neck for comments like that, but once star wars came out most other toys took to the back of the shelf

I never even knew the line existed until I seen a Tom Baker doll at a Doctor Who convention in the mid 1980's.
It took another 10 years for me to learn that doll was related to Mego... and I was/am a pretty big Who fan.

The same thing happend over here STAR WARS blew all the other toys out of the water till HE-MAN and the little 3 3/4 GI-JOE figures came along in the early 80s

I had the 6 inch red Dalek and the Dr when i was a kid, would be nice to see a repro Dr and some different coloured Daleks.

Yes i agree when Star wars hit, that was it for other toys but you could get other toys cheap,as toy shops were discounting them.I can remember seeing racks of micronaught stuff,Black Hole and BSG toys for just pocket money,ah those were the days

Maybe we could have Mego Museum cards exclusively for the
British and Italian Museum members only...

I'm a US WHO fan since 1978 and i've bearly been able to get a Loose (pardon the word) Leela and an Italian Doctor from ebay after 30 years. Now after seeing others I want to customize the whole line up of Doctors and Companions at 8" size. i hear that to new Who toy line is suppose to start earlier Doctors and companions any time now. i emailed them last fall and got a reply that said they would start this spring. so please let me know if you see them. thanks.
