I'm rarely on FB. I'm here almost every day.
I find FB very lightweight, and an ideal place to start misunderstandings because the messages are so short and superficial. I find it very hard to "read" an opinion that is just "like" or "don't like".
And yes, it's full of people overstating their own importance by showing us pictures of themselves, their food, their new shoes, and just about anything that (briefly) pops in their heads.

I think it's worrying that we voluntarily allow our powers of expressions to be condensed in smaller and smaller spaces.
Pretty soon, when somebody's Dad dies, people will just respond ""

I consider myself to be "anti-social media". I like to visit this site everyday for the love of the megos and anything else that is relevant

Facebook has its uses for sharing video and such, but I like the purity of this site. I feel I'm actually in a Mego environment, instead of a Facebook environment with a few Mego stickers placed here and there!

Facebook.... It's like going to a State Fair. It's fun to go once a year or so and point a laugh at the people you see, and eat fried stuff on a stick, but you regret it later...

Seriously, it has its uses I know, but it's not for me.

I like both for different reasons. They both do things better than the other. If I want the news the second anyone hears about it, I’ve found the Museum does a better job keeping me up to date. But if I’m being completely honest, I find far less drama and negativity on the mego pages seen on Facebook than I do here. I find folks are quick to judge and insult here because to a strong degree, they remain faceless and anonymous. If you spout off on Facebook, all of your friends and family may see it, so people do a better job filtering negative thoughts on social media.

The flip side of course is that we tend to embrace our nerdy hobby more here for the same reason. I’d be more likely to post pictures of my custom figures or silly mego fun here because I know you guys will “get it” while my old High School friends or my co-workers on Facebook wouldn’t.

The other thing I enjoy more about Facebook is seeing your lovely families. As cool as Paul’s Dr Mego handle on the Museum is, I much rather see pics of his beautiful family or son Eddie in a Superman t-shirt. I enjoy seeing Brian hiking with his kids, Sam’s visits to comic shops or Austin’s funny posts, etc. Being on here daily makes a lot of us feel like we know each other even we have never met face to face, but Facebook lets us into each other’s lives and shows that we have even more in common than just mego’s. We are also proud parents and like the same shows, etc.

All that said, I still spend far too much time at this Museum. If you don’t believe me, ask my wife.

If I'm allowed to put my electronic graffiti on the walls of pop culture, I prefer to use the spray paint here rather than the sidewalk chalk of Facebook.

I also find my facebook feed a bit overwhelming. Seeing likes of friends and neighbors that show up in my feed, make it a burden to sift through. Nah... this place is the cool clubhouse.

I like both and as far as FB I like the "one stop shopping" aspect. I can get updates from my friends, and get involved in group discussions about topics I like. Though to be fair, my posting everywhere has dropped a bit due to a hectic workplace.

I do both, but Facebook just seems more ephemeral to me, someone posts something cool on a group, there's a bunch of comments and "likes" and then a few days later it's forgotten and buried under a bunch of new stuff. On a forum like this, a thread can take time to build and evolve, or even be resurrected sometime later when a person who missed it the first time does a search finds the thread and wants to add something to it. That kind of thing doesn't really happen on Facebook.

                      good question.
i actually slowed way down on forum use, not because i used Facebook for memos -i didn't. i used Facebook for online conversation. only recently have i started posting more in mego museum as there Facebook conversation has been uninspiring.

Quoted for truth. This is precisely how I feel about it.

                          Yep.

Facebook may have it's merits, but for me, for "geeking out", this kind of forum is the only way it's satisfying.

I use Facebook---but, it's more for "life events" with people I grew up with or see in person on a day to day basis. It's a way to hit them all in a unified way with the more pertinent stuff--- as opposed to the pop culture and collecting, etc. discussion done here.

I'm not on Facebook, although I do lurk using my brother's password (he said I could) on my grandniece's mother's page, Shaun Cassidy, American Girl and Via-E toys. I don't post and don't feel the need to. When it's Mego and some retro goodness I want, I always come here.

Never had Facebook and I dont think I ever will. Everyone I know is on it and it seems like it consumes their lives. No interest in it at all.
