Back in 72, I was 5 going on 6. Kindergarten. My first Mego was a solid boxed superman and my brother's (who was 4) was a solid boxed Removable Cowl Batman. I remember distinctly getting them and wishing after choosing Superman that I had chose the Batman but they were just boxed items and we had no idea what they were until we got in the car to go home from the Monroeville mall toy store where we got them. We tore those boxes apart getting to the figures in the back seat of the car. Been burned in my head since. Strange huh? I also remember putting the cowl (which is the only surviving item) on Superman and thinking the heads were very near identical. Of course they were not but that is what I was thinking. My brother had more superhero megos than I did but I seem to have got the collecting bug that he did not. Though I have, through the years, gave him some for Christmas that he has boxed away.

I follow. Got the same. For years I had remembered those original figures after the type 2 figures came out and I had moved on but all the little kids had these painted-mask batman megos. I knew I hadn't imagined it. And it was not until 1996 after purchased some issues of ToyShop Magazine that I was able to buy a mint loose one for $200 from a guy who had a full page ad in the book named Mark Clark. Getting that feeling again was priceless.Comment

I was born in 1964 so the fall of 1972 was when I started the third grade and I definitely had superhero MEGOS by then.
It's hard to remember exactly how old I was when I got my RC Batman and RM Robin except that they were window
boxes and we moved in summer of '73 but I remember playing with MEGO Batman and Superman in the old house.Comment

I was 5
but I never was taken to any stores that sold memos. We had no Toys R US and I don't remember there being a krege's. I got some toys on my bday (aug) and christmas. I didn't get to watch TV (other than PBS) so I didn't even know mego existed. Ages 6 - 7 I watched Superfriends and the Hanna Barbera heroes as well as Spidey Super Stories. I would have LOVED to have had megos. I started watching network TV around 76. I wanted BATMAN toys! I got my first Mego when I turned 9.Comment
