Yay or nay? Some like the design some wish it was closer to the Julie Newmar look. I personally think she looks great and might even be my favorite bat-villian.
I can't have an unbiased opinion at this point, I've known and accepted this figure as the Mego Catwoman since my sister got her for Christmas when I was around seven years old, I've just grown up with her looking that way.
I've always liked this figure, and the Mod costume in the comics. I like the silk-screened blue-legs version even more. That said, classic is classic for a reason, and I understand some collectors' reservations about this version.
Personally, I'm more upset that Mego's Speedy had red trunks and Mr. Mxyzptlk used a fat body.

Nay...as a child my first exposure to Batman was the 60s series, and I've always loved Julie Newmar's Catwoman. As soon as I saw this thing in the toy store, my only thought was, (and still is), "That's not Catwoman."
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
For me, it's a "yay"...just 'cuz. I have an article somewhere that argued fans thought she seemed written as getting too close to potentially killing the heroes. I always thought she was a healthy part of the mythos; and strayed nicely away from the tv-show version. Her Frank Robbins designed costume and era-specific storylines were essential parts of Catwoman history.

Mxy is a suckfest all around. I like the liberties mego took with Speedy. But I have to say if saw a guy in red underwear shooting arrows I would call the Paddy Wagon.
Back to Catwoman she only used that costume a handful of times
Batman 210, 256
Wonder woman 201-202
Brave and the Bold 131
But I'm glad mego didn't overlook the character and she looks good displayed next to Batgirl.
I'll always defend Mego Mxy despite the execution. It's a good sculpt & costume IMO--if Mego had chosen to put these elements on a child or even teen body, I believe we'd appreciate Mxy differently, more positively, today.
It's easy to overlook how dull Luthor appeared in '72, and I suspect Mego wanted a more visually interesting Superman foe than Bizarro, too.

I have a Mxy and like it a lot, I agree Mego might have had a better response if they put him on a teen body
but he did come on a type-1 body first, so it came out before the Titans release which were put on type 2 bodies,
to reintroduce Mxy on a teen type 2 body after, would have been cool, but odd at the sametime.
Like others, Julie Newmar was first and defined the look, but this version didn't really bother me as a kid or now. As others have pointed out, there were much worse Mego "errors" than this one.
When i started reading the comics, I always thought this would have made a better Mego-
