    Up Close: Wolverine

Wolverine is the third in a series of ReMego Marvel comics sets from Diamond Select and Marvel Comics. Our friends at Entertainment Earth were the first get him this time, so we have the scoop before the comic shops.

Before I roll out the photo review, two things I want to mention in an effort to be objective:

    1) The classic Wolverine figure does not come with regular hands. This is a strange omission. Not a big problem for a Mego head or someone who bought the Captain America set (which included extra flesh hands for some reason) but something that needs to be mentioned. We photographed the figure without including hands.

    2) For the photos of the other two figures, I used an EMCE swivel arm body, not included with this set that can be ordered here. Everything else was included in the set.

Like It? Get the Wolverine set for $69.95 at Entertainment Earth.

The brown one is awesome! I hope to buy him separately somewhere for a similar price of an FTC fig.

As said from day one, the removable mask is atrocious, color doesn't match the outfit, needs a clear band to stay on??? and generally looks terrible overall, it's even worse that I thought it would be, and completely unneeded with a Logan head already in the set. Such a shame. These sets have so much potential and miss the mark, especially for the price point. If they drop to $50 I MIGHT start picking them up but no way at full retail.

They need to drop them another $20 before I'll even consider them.

I don't understand how we're 40 years past Mego and yet these companies can't produce stuff that is even Mego quality, never mind 40 years worth of advancements better. That removable mask is absolutely hideous. Sure, RM Batman's mask looks more like a motorcycle helmet than a mask, but at least it's still an aesthetically pleasing piece and it actually fits properly on Bruce's head without help. What the heck happened here?

However, the fact that the Logan sculpt underneath looks good means that you could simply toss the removable mask and still have a great yellow and blue Wolverine figure (once you find him a pair of hands.)

The brown and orange version gets my vote.

^Welcome back Dave. It's good to see an old face back here on the museum. Hope all is well.

The paint job on the brown and orange head shows a sloppy paint job with black on the orange and orange on the black parts in these pics.
They would never get 80.00 for these at Toy r us look what happend to R2 Capt Action

Who made the decision to make the boots, gloves, and mask out of rubber instead of plastic anyway? Why not just use a simple pair of trimmed Mego boots and Mr. Fantastic gloves with a new claw piece added on?
