Am I Correct To Assume Basa Only Distributed In Peru?

Given that the entire purpose of importation substitution acts were to keep production (i.e., jobs) within country, I'm assuming that companies like Basa only distributed within their own borders.

I ask because I'm headed to Colombia for a few days. I don't think they would have been any Colombian Megos to date, but I was wondering if any Basa snuck over the border. Anybody know any good toy stores in Bogota? I'm already bracing for the bad drug jokes.

Best of wishes on toy hunting in Colombia. My wife is Peruvian and I have been there with her several times but never had the good fortune to find any Basa figures. I have looked in several places but found nothing.

As far as I know, Basa only made toys for the Peruvian market, but you never know, some might have ended up over the border in Columbia. But I've heard that even in Peru, vintage Basa toys are extremely hard to find these days. Good luck though and have a safe trip!

Thanks, all. I figure it's a pretty long long shot. Its pretty rare that I've been lucky enough to come across any Megos abroad- a carded Spidey in Singapore and a pair of Ledys and a Fabuloso Fred at a Mexico City flea market.

When you come back, don't mention "Peruvian Basa" at the customs desk.
Unless, of course, you enjoy a full cavity search...
