6 Awesome '70s Toys Only Foreigners Got

Topless Robot - 6 Awesome '70s Toys Only Foreigners Got

I wrote this piece for Village Voice Media and thought it would be of interest seeing as it's 90% about Mego. I apologize if you already checked this out through PS, just spreading the mego love.

That's great Brian, but where's Havoc? I think she should be in there somewhere!

Good stuff, boss. I like how you've adopted a snarkier voice for the topless robot audience.

Well those crazy foreigners can keep thier tartan skirt lovin' bagpiper and lame-azz zorro. But I can't believe North America dropped the ball on Battle of the Plant figures, Dr. Who, the mighty Mightor and Ultraman. those are some cool toys indeed.

The United States is a land of plenty when it comes to just about everything: food sizes, guns, fat people, and even toys.

              Nice write-up

              Question:
I've NEVER seen a non green Mighty Mightor.
              Do any exist ?

BUT as you've only mentioned Denys Fisher, Popy, Pin Pin and the like, only those who know their relationship to Mego would know that the list is so pro-Mego.

I love that Ultraman. I would have loved to have access to an Ultraman when I was a kid. Heck, I want it now!

Brian, I noticed that you included the Popy Ultraman figure. I was just curious why there was no mention of the Ultraman Leo figure that came on a T1 body.

That's the MO over there, some times they inject "extra snark" into my stuff.

Pretty much because it was the same subject matter, I didn't want to duplicate.

                              Great article, Brian.

How often have you been published now? It's seems you grace a magazine at least once a quarter, congrats.
