    Re-gluing cellophane to vintage boxes?

What adhesive can I use to reattach the cellophane window to a vintage Mego box?

I tried Aileen's Tacky Glue, but the cellophane just peels loose. I was hoping to use a glue, not double-sided tape.

When I was in printing we had a poster department. We used to do giant posters for Cablevision. Nine foot by 12 foot. Had to lay the posters down on gator board and we would use thin double adhesive sheets. I took a couple home pieces home with me and whenever I need to reapply a window I would cut to size pieces and do it that way. Glue is messy and does not always work. I'd try to find some double adhesive tape at Staples or any other office supply store.

^ I think such tape would be much easier, I know scrap-booking supplies have acid-free versions. I guess I was just thinking it would not be authentic compared to some kind of glue.

Might not be as authentic, but it will adhere better and, because it's acid free, it will not cause any harm to cardboard that's already anywhere from 20 to 40 years old. I used some to re-adhere the cellophane window to one of my old MEGO boxes and it worked wonderfully!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

The double-sided tape worked very well--much obliged.

              Hi!
The glue that most resembles the Mego's glue used in the 70s in my experience is the standard vinylic glue (i.e. Vynavil: white in appearance, but transparent when glued) you can find anywhere.
ABSOLUTELY: no tape or exotic glues.

              Ciao!

Go to home depot, they make a kit that seals cold from your doors or windows, they have some super thin 1/8th inch double sided tape that works great, and you can cut it into pieces that fit.

                  Tape is tape....glue is glue....
in my humble opinion a cellophane window should always be reattached to a vintage Mego box with glue.
