The family and I are planning on coming. I've been promising my girl a trip to the American Girl store, and doing that on a weekend with one of your famous toy shows was a no brainer. We'll stop by and say hi!
I think I am going. I have a group of costuming friends that may go too. I will not be getting a table -and I don't plan to buy anything. BUT -how can I resist the chance to wander around amongst the World's Greatest Superheroes: EMCE Hammer, Earth Chris 2, PNGwynne and durgos.
Oh and don't give Steve the Mego Museum Cards -I'll pay double what he is paying (which I think was $0 -so what the heck, I'll triple it.)
I purchased the paint. I stripped the van -it has no windows, seats, ...nothin'. I primed it. I am hoping to shoot the paint over spring break. Then i can start putting it back together -then detail it like the Joker van. With LOTS of luck it will be done by Mego Meet. However, with the meet in Chicago, i am not sure if i will drive it.
Though I question driving a 40+ year old van that far -The '06 KIA sedona we own wouldn't start during the sub zero temps. The other car was behind it, so I thought -Well, the bus is rear engine in front. And yes, after 2 months of sitting in sub zero temps it started and charged the newer van.
I definitely had a fun time! I spotted several mego(members) in the wild. Steve had ridiculously low priced stuff. But we had a mission of Ewoks for Eleanor and went away with not one but 2 different Ewok playlets, a few woks and a few other star wars figures. I also saw Dan and Chris but failed to connect with other MM members.
One of the coolest things there was a hand made Millennium falcon that was several feet long. All recycled materials. I talk to the artist about trying to do the small scale falcons in schools, and he gave me one to try to push the idea.
I parked at my church a quarter mile away and walked -so no parking fee. I cam in costume with Heroes Alliance -so no entry fee. I only brought $16 thinking I would just not spend. But When we saw Ewok set #2 a friend was with us and loaned us $10. Another vendor let me use paypal for $30. still the total cost for the day was only $55 and we had a great haul.
