Super confusing now with the FTC resin heads for sale, but I am glad that we are getting that previously shown Super Friends Hawkman (and last weeks newsletter reveal of Deadman). Maybe we will see that previously shown Outsiders Batman, since both SF Hawkman and Deadman were shown before too.
The Tura factory samples look incredible. I have no special attachment to Faster Pussycat Kill Kill... but I am a huge fan of well executed figures. Between this and the card art, this one is really knocking it out of the park.
I am really curious to see the Two-Face figure. I feel like Mattel and FTC both came close, but neither quite work for me.
On the CustoMego topic... I understand someone being disappointed that their custom was not included. You want to share your hard work. You want to see what clever quip it gets captioned with in the newsletter. I get it. But still... whenever one of my customs didn't make the newsletter, I never took it as a personal slight. I'm just happy to see customs featured every week. This week we have Bat family, Star Wars, skeleton G.I.s, Cocaine Bear, and Dr. Pretorious!?!? I mean, come on... you got to be blown away by the talent and originality on display with every one of those.

Thank you, Jason is really great with the factory and even though I want the figure yesterday, you need to measure twice, cut once.

I get it, I've liked, not loved the attempts. I felt the same way about the Flash, it's never felt WGSH but I really dig the recent Mego one.

Yeah, prior to the last six weeks or so, Steve ran the custom content and well, he is way better at it than me. I scroll around and try to find stuff, and honestly, the FB algorithm is a strange mistress. I only ever check two forums, this one and the Museum CustoMego site. Perhaps that's the issue; I really don't know. I will say that this person's accusation that I intentionally and knowingly blocked his creations is untrue. I honestly sometimes struggle for content. My only bias is I do like to keep it weird but the mainstream stuff is always featured. Had this person had the wherewithal to reach out instead of projecting onto me, I would have listened, but now, I feel like the bridge is burned. Getting a little tired of this sort of thing.

The timing on the Minix could probably be better. Funko just announced hefty losses and are going to landfill 30 million dollars worth of POPs because they are not selling. I think all those POP collections will be joining Beannie Babies at Goodwill very soon.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Well, there is a lot to unpack there. Funko has been at this long, and the licensing game is risky. Someone I know toured their massive warehouse and mentioned it was filled with many old brands that nobody wants, like "Duck Dynasty." Mego's structure is a little different; they sell most of what they make to the retailer with clearance as a factor in the pricing.
Also, as much as I don't care for them, Pops aren't going anywhere soon.
Beanie Babies sell like mad, they are not collectible, but I swooned when the rep told me what an average gas station could sell. They've just become an evergreen item now.
The folks at Mego have said that Minix was created because retailers offered space and an opportunity. That's better than ten Christmases to a small company. Will it sell? Maybe not with the fire it would have five years ago but I still think it could succeed. Especially when you consider Mego's overhead vs Funko.

I dunno. The tremendous success of Funko Pops shows that there is a consumer for these kinds of collectibles, but the recent downturn suggests that people are getting bored with the same old, same old. It may actually be good timing for Minix if those collectors are moving on to something new.
I'm not anti-pop or beanie baby. I think beanie babies are adorable little plush toys and have several POPs. I bought all the Strawberry Shortcake ones.
I'm anti-corporate greed and speculators turning toys into just another investment in their portfolio. It was Funko's greed and speculators/investors that killed the vinyl market. My comment was not intended as a slight at Mego. Just yeah honestly the timing could have been better. The interest in the vinyl market has really started to wane.
