I'd say "exact replica" is there to address the spinning wheels issue. I'm betting they do spin, and Mattel's stranglehold on the Batmobile is over.

I think the red Batmobile is an homage to the original batmobile from the golden age comics.

Good thinking. That hadn't occurred to me. I expected black and blue and until I saw the red, I was thinking maybe purple or grey would be some variant colors. Or white also occurred to me, for some reason.

I think the red Batmobile is definitely a nod to the Japanese tin Batmobiles from the 60s/early 70s. Several of the companies with the 66 license have been producing variants of their Batmobile in blue (which makes sense to the comics) and red (which is a nod to the Japanese toys). NJ Croce is making a "bendy" Batmobile in red, for instance.

Love the new Batmobiles! Gotta agree with Lonnie on the black interior on the red one. Or maybe a blue interior.
