Thanks for the love for Rock Lantern. The Video Man is a custom I thought I'd never see. The Ventriloquist was also a thing of beauty. Those carded Treks were like something you would have seen in Needful Things.Comment

Fun week, thanks for posting! Billy would have been a much-welcomed addition!
I'm headed out to Monkey Wards right this instant to get me some of those amazing Ape Planet Figurers for $.99 and at least one each of those wonderful coordinated accessories. But before I head out, compliments to the young lad with the fantastic hair, nice 3PO!Comment

Billy Idol: amazing head sculpt!
But candidly, I personally wouldn't have been any more interested in buying that Mego figure than I was in the Alice Cooper figure.
I was definitely intrigued by the new Mego KISS figures. But they were released near the start of the line, when I feel like modern Mego craftsmanship wasn't yet at its peak. I thought the Muhammad Ali and Joe Namath figures, both of which I bought, were incrementally better.
I feel like the 'rock star image' is a skinnier body than the Mego base body. So it's not a perfect fit from the start.Comment

Thank you again for an awesome weekly newsletter!
That 1981 Big Jim from France looks, crazily, like Marvel EiC Jim Shooter in 1980!
That Groovy Ghoul is fantastic and looks, to me, as if Frankenstein was trying (somewhat unsuccessfully) to join a California folk-rock band in Laurel Canyon in 1970!
As a fan of Action Jackson going back to childhood, and someone who still has, in a box, many of the outfits shown in that catalog page, I will say with love that many of those outfits are wildly off-base representations of what they purported to be. Take that snowmobile outfit: Big Jim is not going to last long in any freezing cold, snowy environment requiring him to walk in snowshoes (let alone ride a snowmobile!) if he's wearing a flimsy nylon windbreaker with a hood; the best he can do, poor guy, is desperately pull the hood's drawstring tight against his head! He'll be dead in minutes, unfortunately.... And who ever wore a collared, floral print shirt to either surf or SCUBA dive?!?! That outfit HAD to've been designed by someone who'd never actually done either activity! I kid because I love!!

I have trouble wrapping my mind around that All in the Family Halloween costumes got that far in development. What kid wanted to be Archie Bunker!? That is just bizarre. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment
