I believe Brian and I are in agreement that our favourite part of the Canuck figure is the way the head turned out.

Check out the original head sculpt for Canuck by Andy Covalt (MM's Crimson Ghost).

When Brian, Paul and I first sat down at Mego Meet to begin this project, we were all in instant agreement that Andy was our guy. He was just coming off of an AMAZING run of sculpts for the Mattel DC Retro line... creating heads for characters like Flash and Green Lantern, making their debut in Mego format and looking like they fit right into the original Mego line-up of the seventies. That's what we were hoping for with Canuck, and that's exactly what we got from Andy, under the guidance and expertise of Paul. Finding that right balance between the original comic book art (that jawline!), and the classic "Mego" feel. For me, the project really came alive when I opened up my email and saw these pics... suddenly this was REAL, this was Happening.

The one thing Brian has always been adamant about throughout the process is making sure we didn't suffer the "Noggin' Problem" that seems to crop up in so many ReMegos. We give Paul full props for delivering on this... a perfect sized head when you place it on the shelf next to the World's Greatest Superheroes. Captain Canuck truly looks like he belongs in the line-up of vintage Superheroes, just like I always imagined as a kid.

Andy and Paul did a killer job on this head, and we're really proud of it and the amazing work they put into it to ensure it was done right. Big round of applause from me fellas!

THIS!!!! This is what makes this all worthwhile for us. The next generation of Captain Canuck fan right there. Playing with the action figure that I always wanted. Thanks you so much for sharing that pic. It means the world to see that.

If you do happen to go to the launch party in your neck of the woods, please feel free to take pictures and share them with us!

That goes for anyone else nearby one of the launches. We've got Cjefferys covering Niagara Falls, anyone else outside of the GTA?

It's an honor. I told my son that we were the first Canadian to get one and he asked if he could open it and hold it first. He ran to tell his brother "Hey! I'm the first Canadian to hold the new Captain Canuck little man!"

Pretty neat moment for me and him.

Ha! No but it's the same park. I brought my (very impatient) wife this time to act as a look out.

I don't think folks have had a good look at the image on the Captain Canuck promo postcard (Odeon Toys exclusive, FREE with purchase of a Canuck).

The postcard was photographed and designed by my friend and frequent partner-in-crime, Brian Heiler (you guys might know him as the owner, brains, and hard work behind Odeon Toys). One thing we're all taking for granted over the past few years is Brian's increasing skills as a photographer. That takes a great deal of practice, and Trial and Error, and patience. So he's been quietly developing his talent, photographing for the Mego Museum, Plaid Stallions, Facebook and all the other social Media, Megozine, Rack Toys, Odeon and countless other wesites and publications that call upon his vintage toy-expertise. Dude doesn't get enough props for it, and I think we should start recognizing what a subtle art Toy photography is... it's essentially mini-portraiture!

(seriously, go look at the old Mego galleries and compare it to more recent stuff he's posted)

This one is my favourite image of the Canuck figure, and that post-card is frame-able art folks!

I'd imagine it would look even more awkward than that. You'd probably be better off just giving Ed an extra big hug instead (you're welcome Ed!).

I thought that was you and Brian. I was going to congratulate you on your new slim physique and tell Brian that he looks distinguished with the gray. Boy, glad I didn't do that!

So much happiness over this entire project. I MIGHT just try and hug Brian and Sam next time I see them. Fair warning ...
