Well needless to say this is great news for this Southside Chicago guy.
As others have mentioned there's alot to do in the area so if anyone needs suggestions or help with anything I'd be happy to help. Now just as long as I am not touring/traveling with the band at that time it'll be perfect for me!Comment

You really are out of excuses this year Chris, the Buffalo airport is practically on your front doorstep.
Although to be fair to Chris, we should finally get those Nexus passes to bypass the border line-ups.Comment

Funny thing is my biggest worry wasn't the location, it was the date being moved. I've had a long standing tradition at my job about the first two weeks in June being left clear. I had also gone so far as to make sure we did have an inventory in May,so June wouldn't be touched at all. We recently merged with another company and the new physical inventory schedule was released. With no info on MM at the time, my heart sank when I saw June 26th. What if? Thankfully I don't have think about that now! I've both flown to Chicago and driven close to there from NJ. Driving wise it's fine as long you split the trip up into two days coming and going. Flying might be an option, but I have a feeling there will be more "big ticket" vintage items available and if there's a chance I'll be coming home with something like I need to make sure I can carry something onto the plane big enough to accommodate my purchase or purchases as the case may be. I basically have some research to do, but whether by car or plane I'll be there.Comment

If you can swing by to pick me up on the way to the airport, I can have a mini road trip with you guys.
Seriously, for the amount of times you guys go to the US, Nexus is totally worth it. It works out to only ten bucks a year and you can apply right at Pearson airport.Comment

Cool news. This will bring a fresh start to the Meet and bring in a lot more new people. Wheeling was awesome for what it was, but the threshold had been met this past June. It's just a bit further for me to drive, but I'm definitely in. Maybe a carpool from Ohio? WHo knows. We've got lots of time to figure stuff out, but this is a welcomed announcement.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment

First Off...This makes a lot of sense and I think it's a perfect marriage...as Scott mentioned, we had reached Wheeling's capacity for expansion...this is a welcome change.
...but, like VintageMike and BronkBoyKev, this adds a considerable amount of additional hours to an already long commute, double the distance and the time...and flying is not an option. I know there are a few folks who have traveled as long, if not longer, and I commend them but, I am not sure if Berto or I will be able to attend.
I will try my very best to make it happen, but as of right now, it does not look good.
For those that want to monitor Airline Ticket Prices, I would recommend:
Google Flight Search: https://www.google.com/flights
ITA Matrix Airfare Search: http://matrix.itasoftware.com
Kayak: https://www.kayak.com
Hipmunk: https://www.hipmunk.com
Aitfare Watch Dog: http://www.airfarewatchdog.com
Those flying from the NY Area, I seen tickets as cheap as $137 Non-Stop Round Trip if you are patient...right now it's about $217.
Hope this Helps.Everyone is Entitled to MY Opinion...Your's, not so much!Comment

wonder if I could sleep on Austin's floor. This does make it easier to get there by plane. Should be an easier sell to vendors, guests, etc, too.

So, I basically found what I needed to know and it looks like I will be driving. Having done this once before, the best way to tackle it is add a day coming and going and stay overnight at the midway point, which for me (or anyone coming out my region) is Ohio. Then do the second half the next day. Just a thought to maybe give folks another option. Basically driving there doesn't mean you have to do it all in one day. There are also decent places to stay overnight for these stops that won't break the bank. Again just food for thought, everyone has to do what is best/doable for them.Comment

NNNNNNOOOOOOooooooooo!!!!!
Says the laziest Muesum member.
I am one of only a handful who have made it to Wheeling ten years straight. But my attendance was due to a mere 2 hour drive. No work in June. A free place to stay (with beer and a pool).
I agree with the above posts that this will be an easier travel for many -and it will allow for people near Chicago to have the same opportunity I have had for the past decade.
While I love the T&T Museum, Aw Yeah Comics is a great trade off.
Lily and I still want to come and we are looking at driving/flying options. I definitely won't drive the Microbus.
Hopefully I will see you in June.Comment

My wife and kids are already looking forward to it. In fact, my wife is planning a side trip to Springfield IL - home of my hero Abraham Lincoln.
A weekend of the Meet AND Lincoln? It may be too much for my heart to bear.Comment
