Cleaning an Original Star Trek Keeper outfit

Hi, just picked up a Keeper in nice nick, however the gown has gone off white. I`d normally give it a gentle wash, but I `ve seen so many where the orange trim has run I `m wondering if I`ll ruin it....anyone any ideas?

I sometimes use Oxi-clean... but you gotta be really careful with it.
    It will make colours run....

If you try it, keep the orange parts out of the water...

Just dip the white dirty parts in it.

Thanks, from others I`ve seen the orange seems to bleed into the white, but I`m not sure if that s from age or washing.....mine still has the white / orange crisp and I`d be gutted if I ruined it.

        I've ruined a Neptunian suit with oxi-clean...
Well, I didn't really ruin it, but it did make the colours bleed into each-other a bit.

I've actually had really good results just using normal dish detergent (Ajax, Joy etc) and warm water.

The trick is working it in and washing it with your fingers-- GENTLY
Don't be too harsh with working it in, or you'll ruin the fabric (make fuzzies)

I'd say, before you go to extremes....
Try normal dish detergent in warm (not hot) water.

You could wait a little bit and buy the EMCE Keeper. I think those are coming out in the next month or so. Use the new crisp repro costume on your original for display and keep the original dress for sentimental or resale or whenever the Keeper needs to do some gardening or whatever. Just a thought.
