    Hiya folks, rche here

    Hiya there folks,

I'd like to introduce myself and say thanks for letting me lurk about this fine plastic addicts club.

When I was about 10, my mother asked me if I was ready to clear out some of my toys and make some room on the shelf. I told her we should just keep everything. She asked for how long. I replied that when I was a grown up I would have a room dedicated to my toys and have them all on display in a big cabinet. Her reply: You won't want all of this stuff when you're older, just you wait.

I am still waiting. The room is there, sometimes organized, sometimes not.

I do clear out some of the toys now and again, but it is pretty much to make financial room for something else.

I enjoy buy/sell/trade of modern and vintage Star Wars items, and have recently settled in to a fine MEGO habit. I have always attempted to avoid the Mego world, as I knew once I went down that path.....

Nice to meet you all, great galleries, nice forum, the customs area is my favorite.

    keep on keepin' on

newbie question: what is a 'bump' in reply to a post?
    thanks

and Welcome to the Forum rche!

I think you would use a 'bump' to bring up a thread when it starts to fall behind other threads.

      Congrats on finally breaking down.

Trust me, a wonderful world has opened itself for you, don't be afraid to step in and embrace it, you'll love it

Welcome to the Museum! Must be cool to have toys that actually belonged to you instead of replacements purchased on ebay.

I did have a moment of purging in the early teens. I needed beer and date money. Sold my circle suit spidey and his car, several Big Jim items, and some weird knockoff Vader and C-3PO figures. I think there were some FP little people and clunky metal Tonka trucks in there as well. I remember a $5 offer on the Spiderman, less for his car. Probably got about $12 for the whole deal. Left me feeling a bit bad but I had gas for the next couple of weekends. Actually, I am probably being generous so I don't feel so bad about that Spidey.

I tried to hang on to everything else, then I discovered Toy Shop, and ten years later there was the internet and Ebay followed. Now it is just too easy to enjoy these things. Still hard to tidy up the room tho.

BTW: I guess I got the right kind of beer for those Saturday nights, cos the girl that followed thinks the toys are a kick; and now my 4yo girl flies her Playmobil family around in the Slave I.

toyshop used to be a great paper till the internet kinda squashed it.

Welcome, You are lucky to still have your original stuff. I think many of us have had to spend quite a bit to get back some of those cherished toys of our childhood. I know I have, and will continue to do so. Cheers.
