I went to two POTA store appearances back in the day. One at the Times Square Store in Lindenhurst/Babylon and one at the Great Eastern in Lindenhurst, both on Long Island.

That would have been so much fun for a kid. They never had any type of store appearances around here.

We actually had these in Canada, Lorne Kotzer from Parkdale Novelty told me the General Urko suit got stolen from the Eaton Center and that was that. A couple of years before he told me that I saw it in a movie poster shop for $1,000.

I recall a Spider-Man store appearance or two as a kid but I was never able to go to those.

Along these same lines, I have a question that was posted by a member of one of the Yahoo! APES groups.

He had this to say: "Intesting to find out who was contracted to do these in store promo's.

Was it Fox, Mego or the shop itself???"

Any help regarding this question would be appreciated. I did tell him that I knew MEGO was behind at least some of them, but I'd find out more if I could.

In Canada, the store promotions were done by Parkdale Novelty, the distributor for Mego, they gave away photos with the Mego logo on them.

Likewise Neal Kublan himself travelled with Nimoy and Shatner for the Trek promotions, so it seems likely that Mego had a hand in the Apes.
