Mego Action Figures In Full Force in 1976 Sears Catalog

This interesting catalog spread from the 1976 Sears (Canada) Catalog prominently features the Mego World's Greatest Superheroes being sold with their "official outfits" (which are of course, closed out Action Jackson uniforms. Star Trek was still riding high while Planet of the Apes were going into deep discount, they would appear in Sears Canada catalogs until 1978, note the exclusive Horse, Wagon and Catapult set pictured.

How cool. It just amazes me the prices on these things. And poor Fonzie, he's all alone...

We never got the rest of the Happy Days crew in Canada, just the Fonz. My parents drove us to Florida in 1977 and I remember waking up in the car at 5am at some large gas station and on my way to the bathroom, I saw Richie, Ralph and Potsie. For years I thought I dreamt that.

I love those old catalog layouts.

Growing up, I remember getting these catalogues in November and X-mas seeming like 6 months away instead of 6 weeks. I would stare at these pages day after day until x-mas day arrived. They are still great to look at.

That's pretty sweet looking. Spidey and Batman drag racing on the beach. Superman,Spider Man,Batman and Robin look like they're dancing at a club or something. Then you've got Spock who looks like he's trying to tell Kirk about the Klingon standing behind him, while Kirk for whatever reason, can't sit in his chair.

I have one similar to that one in my JCPenney's '73 Xmas catalog. It is really cool looking at the catalogs. It's a good thing my mom never kept these things around when I was a kid, or I would have gotten every piece of furniture wet w/ drool!

'75-'77 were good years to be a Mego/Superhero fan!

I had every item on that page except for J, the vast majority of which were probably bought from the Sear US catalog.

Chirstmas 76 is kinda of the end, As the toy market was about to change big time with the coming of STAR WARS and things were never the same

My original trek figures from that time period all had the newer body type except for the McCoy I had. And he had bending at the waist problems just like the Kirk in that picture.
                            It's all good!
