*Whew* just finished packing up the van. Roads were kind of crappy in my neck of the woods today. I hope the weather is better tomorrow, I'm sure it will improve as I make my way north. We were probably mostly experiencing that damn lake effect snow from Lake Erie...

We'll put Chinatown North onto the bucket list of cool things to do in 2014. In the plus column, I think your wife would appreciate the Asian markets. 8)Last edited by samurainoir; Jan 18, '14, 10:09 PM.Comment

Hope everybody had a blast. I knew my attendance would be weather depending, and it was just too crappy day for such a drive on the 401. Hopefully it was enough of a successful day for everybody to want to do it again and I'm sure it was. Some good looking toys you've got there and the rocket robin hood customs were flawless. Again, sorry I had to miss it.Comment

Andy, really sorry you couldn't make it.
I've got to run but I wanted to recap a little. This January has been terrible and stressful but I'm so glad I went today. I didn't buy any toys today but seeing new and old friends was absolutely fantastic. Seriously, for eight hours today I never thought of the real world, just laughed and had fun. So nice to see everyone, thank you it meant the world.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

Great to see everyone today, and the dinner afterwards was fun too. Hope to see you all again soon!Comment

Oh boy, where to start?
I'm running on very little sleep and given the flurry of activity today, I'm a bit loopy right now. My apologies if I have forgotten anyone or anything, there was so much going on today, I got to hang out with wonderful friends, meet a lot of new people, and given how hoarse I am right now, I suspect I was chatting non stop for the entire 12 hours from set-up time to dinner.
I feel like Mego North was an incredible success, in that we were trying to bring a bit of that Mego Meet feeling slightly south of of the 49th Parallel, to Southern Ontario.
The Burlington Toy Show had already become a de facto "Mego Meet", but formalizing it somewhat really bumped the experience up a notch. I would love it if we made this an annual event. We really owe Paula and Steve, who always do a bang-up job of running the Burlington show, a HUGE debt of gratitude for not only allowing us to host our Mego gathering-of-friends there, but for promoting us as well. It should also be noted that it was Steve's brilliant suggestion to do the Rocket Robin Hood custom.
I'm overwhelmed and overjoyed at the response RRH received. The limited edition run of 15 numbered exclusive figures sold out almost immediately to my utter astonishment. Depending on response and demand, we're talking about going back and doing a RRH ver 2.0 with a slightly different outfit, and there are already improvements I wish to make that I wasn't able to implement due to lack of time. Please let me know if anyone here is interested, and perhaps I can make a special Mego Museum variant if we decide to do this later in the year.
First and foremost... Palitoy and CJefferys, who for the past few years have indulged me through all manner of ludicrous hare-brained schemes, half baked flights of fancy, and ridiculous antics. None more-so than the lead up to Mego North! But it's so rare in life that you have fellas that just "get you", and my idea of an ideal "Staycation" has been to spend the day just simply hanging out with these two fine gentlemen. All the crazy, wonderful, creative stuff that's happened lately is down to them.
It's also been an absolute pleasure making new friends like MonsterMatt Patterson, the Fitski Brothers, and UbermanX. Knowing that we were all tabling together, really solidified the event and brought the community together. And given how busy we were at our tables all day long, I'm really glad we made it a point to go out for dinner afterwards as well. Just to unwind, laugh and shoot the breeze. I'm also delighted to reconnect with boynightwing and happy that he was able to join us as well.
and WOW... Godzilla and his family drove all the way from Ohio to hang out with us! You definitely take the prize (although UbermanX's drive in from Peterborough is impressive as well). Thuderous round of applause. We really hope you, and your lovely wife and kids had a good time in the Great White North! Looking forward to seeing you at Mego Meet in June, and if you are ever in the area again, let's make it a point to get some folks together to hang out.
Also big ups to my brother, who was great support today, taking money, watching the table, selling toys, helping me pack, while I gibber jabbered the day away.
Finally... for those of you wanting Mego Meet to move closer to you. I'm telling you that it's really really simple to capture the magic in your neck of the woods. Just start hanging out with Mego Museum peeps close-by... get tables at toy shows together, go hang out at flea markets, go toy hunting at Toys R Us and Targets, meet up at your local comic store, go out and grab a meal together!Last edited by samurainoir; Jan 19, '14, 9:07 PM.Comment

ook! This was another really cool thing that happened today, a Rocket Robin Hood fan/collector brought his portfolio of RRH cels and original art to show us! It was Super cool seeing art by Gray Morrow, Steranko, Ralph Bakshi and others. You forget how much spectacular talent worked behind the scenes (often anonymously) on this show! Hopefully Brian will be able to show off some of it on Plaid Stallions.
I should thank everyone who helped me lug stuff out to my car afterwards so I could get to dinner with everyone earlier! 8)
Also CJefferys and Palitoy-Junior for going on the EPIC and oddly comical lunch run with me!
Palitoy showed off some custom figures that are going to knock your socks off when they are revealed! Particularly those of you who were climbing over each other to get a Satin Monster!
SAVE THE DATES:
GTA Comic Con. APRIL 19th.
following up on the success of Rocket Robin Hood, they have asked us to produce an exclusive of THE MIGHTY HERCULES.
Burlington Toy Show. JUNE 1st.
We've booked two Mego Museum tables, as we gear up, ONE WEEK BEFORE MEGO MEET!Last edited by samurainoir; Jan 19, '14, 9:30 PM.Comment
