    Mego Talking Super Softie Superman

I got a Mego Talking Super Softie for Christmas this year. I never thought I'd own one. Here's a post about it on my web site, including some MP3s of the talking features. The Museum page on Superman says that it says five things, but I think that may be a typo because mine only says four things.

Does anyone make a repro box for these?

That is so cool! Looks to be in great condition! Anytime I hear a talking doll like that, I like to imagine what the recording session looked like....

I love that, Steve! Those sounds are great!

Do you have any idea who voiced them? The voice sounds like someone who may have done the voice of Superman in one of the cartoon series.

Wow, that was cool! How awesome to find a talking pull string toy that still works! It does sorta sound like the Filmation cartoon voice, Thanks for sharing!

I don't think it's the Filmation voice, as Bud Collyer (also famous for voicing Superman on radio and the Fleischer shorts) had passed on at this point. The voice sounds like they are attempting to copy Collyer, as opposed to Danny Dark of the Super Friends.

Well, since he'd been recorded so many times, it wouldn't be that hard to get a copy of the various lines Collyer did for Superman and put it in the doll, would it? Just sayin'...

That's true. But it would be kind of creepy.

I almost got to tackle doing a custom box for this style SS Superman (the HUGE one). A box which looks a lot like the real one but improvised in places.

I think the voice artist for these dolls was the same guy for all four. He seems to be doing a Paul Soles thing for Spidey.

Man, I would love to collect the Super Softies, but not sure I'd have the space for them!

I don't really remember them from when I was a kid though. Were they from the early-mid seventies?

I have no recollection of these guys at all. But I did have a big stuffed Donald Duck and Bugs Bunny, so I was all set.
