ive seen a lot of articles on the mego iron man having a nose-

iron man DID have a nose in the comic around the time the mego came out- after a comment by stan lee that the helmet was so small there wasnt room for his nose.heres the proof.

so mego got it right.
i rather like the nose- apparently it was unpopuler with fans and only lasted a year.

its not just a panel- iron man had a nose from 1973 to 1975 - around the time the mego figure was issued so that was the most recent version of the character at that point.

the nose went when iron man re designed his armor into the classic 70s version we all know- the one made into the secret wars figure.- toward the end of the noses appearances iron man was getting jibes about the nose in the comic which made him re think its design.

if only someone would sell me a mego iron man.

its pretty likely the figure was coming out at the time or just after the nose went- so its likey the mego designers that had been developing the sculpt were using the nose version as reference- the fantastic four didnt come out until the next line so this is unlikely to be a scrapped doom head- it looks a hell of a lot more like the nosed version of iron man than it does doom.the mouth and eyes are wrong- too wrong for mego- and doom doesnt have the pointy hairline- its clearly based on the iron man look above.
