A generous helping of new images to the Star Trek The Motion Picture Gallerytoday, courtesy of Craig MacKillop. Check out some very nice Canadian rarities such as MOC Aliens and the wonderful Grand Toys boxed Enterprise pictured above.
I went from Mego to Star Wars to Star Trek. The drawbacks for both the Star Wars and Star Trek figures was the articulation and the costumes. Hands down Mego was cool for the cloth costumes and such. The Star Wars figures were quick and cheap looking. Star Trek was worse. The figures look so big around the middle because of the leg pins it's just awful. I think my Kirk has one leg longer than the other, and nothing in the heel to place him on a base, so standing him is next to impossible. Mego had some of the same problems with the boots and all...
Don't get me wrong, I treasure my Kirk, Spock and McCoy figures and my Star Wars and Empire Strikes back collection, but the later Playmates Star Trek figures were much higher quality of collectible.
