MegoStore.com will close permanently on January 1st, 2014

I suck at timely shipping, I've always sucked at timely shipping, and I've had to work really, really hard not to suck at timely shipping, and mainly failed. I'm also bad at keeping track of inventory, pre-orders, and all that fun stuff. And I'm tired of having to deal with the fallout from that, and even more tired of disappointing people. Even when I post on the store itself that shipping won't be fast, people don't bother to read that (I'm not blaming them, I probably wouldn't either) and expect quicker service than I'm able to give them. And rightfully so. I'm tired of fighting against the tide, and it just isn't something I want to do anymore. I want to go back to being just a collector, and hopefully repair some of the bridges I've burned by being slow to ship over the years. Any hard feelings are all on me, and I accept that.

I will of course honor all orders and pre-orders already made, and any made by the end of the year, but after that, I am done. I may bring a boatload of stuff to Megomeet this year, or sell it all to someone who wants to start their own online store, but one way or the other it'll all go away and I can finally reclaim my garage. I imagine I'll continue to buy a case of each new figure that comes out, one for me, one for my son, and will eBay or sell on the marketplace the remaining two, but that's it. I may even be persuaded to sell the megostore.com domain, if anyone wants it.

If you have any questions, please PM or email me, don't post them here. I don't want to start a "please don't go" or a "I'm glad you're going, you rotten, slow-shipping jerk" thread, I really don't. And, anyway, I'll still be around, fixing software glitches, installing new mods, and helping this place run as smoothly as possible. And hopefully the hobby will become fun for me again, because it really hasn't been for quite a while.

    Thanks for reading!

At least you're being honest with yourself about it.

I applaud your decision Joe. Definitely agree with making the hobby fun, rather than a chore.

Once it's done hopefully you'll find your enjoyment of the hobby again sooner rather than later.

Joe, you're a good guy and a long time asset to the Mego community who found yourself in a bad spot. You've always stood up and have been accountable for the problems you've faced and think you're doing that again with this decision. Hopefully, Megos will be less of a chore and you can get back to simply enjoying them.

Joe I always thought you were excellent and I enjoyed talking to you during the first few years of Megomeet. Take care of yourself.

I think people where to darn hard on you here. That's NOT cool. No one is perfect and never will be.
Just be happy. At least you got orders. I have not had one and my stuff is cool.
                Don' feel bad. Trust me.

This hobby should be fun, if its not then taking a step back may be best. All the best and get back in the game when you can.

Joe, its a tough deal, I had a store too, had better prices than any of the bigger online retailers, and still couldnt get enough orders to justify the store expense per month. =(
Chin up brother, you did a lot better than most of us could do!
