It's pretty interesting that someone born from 1975 would have vivid memories of Megos since the 3 3/4 figures took over as the dominate format in the late 70's. That's great to hear. Glad to see the line found fans on their way out.
Yeah, his pile if childhood Megos really surprised me. I have this distorted idea that all buck Rogers figures were shelf warmers, same with Dukes and Chips, because I've been seeing dead stock for the last 20 years. People did have them and play with them. Mego was off my radar by that time.
Dukes was a smash for Mego, Buck Rogers and Chips were also hits but once the shows got yanked, the toys died.
I was still young enough to really covet the Buck line (denied!) but the sight of Chips and DoH just made me nostalgic for the days of Apes and Superheroes.

Fun listen. As far the later lines I had some buck 3 3/4, my cousin had Chips, and I had Bo & Luke in both and 8 inch and 3 3/4 as I was (and am) a big Dukes fan. Interesting hear the hosts surprise (and glee) hearing about things that are common knowledge to us (like replacement stickers) but not someone who isn't an active collector. While I'm a few years older than the host I TOTALLY relate to the story about only seeing The last six figure heroes stores and wondering why he couldn't find any of the others.
When I heard the one caller talk about only seeing certain characters, it sounded like he was coming in towards the end of the run when shelves were filled with carded imports. That was a typical sight at Children's Palace in the late 70's and early 80's. But in the early to mid-70's there was quite a bit of variety (at least in Louisville). The only superhero/villains I never saw on shelves locally were the Green Goblin and Kid Flash. Those seem to always be allusive. That's when my parents had to mail order the Green Goblin from Heroes World. I never had a chance to order Kid Flash because he was in and out of the Heroes World comics after only one issue. And even though we had a number of the Titans locally, I never once saw Kid Flash. It took me literally 17 years before I saw one up close in person. And that was at a convention in Lexington called Lex-Trek. Only then did I even realize he was considerably shorter than the other Megos. It was a really weird experience since I was such an avid collector as a kid. But I digress. This was a great show to listen to. Nothing like reminiscing with Megos.
