Megos & Joes & Jim in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest...Fun & pics & thanks to all

    100_3997.jpg100_4009.jpg100_4004.jpg100_4008.jpg100_4003.jpg

Yesterday was our second Mego Eat and it was a blast!
Luckily the record storms didn't scare most people away. There was a heavier amount of sales and trading going around this time, probably due to the fact that we opened the event to other local collectors of vintage joes, vintage star wars and such. It was fun to interact with other collectors as they were very curious as to our megos.
Lonnie was gracious enough to bring a ton of vintage mego parts, heads, weapons clothes...it was like a Hong Kong factory exploded!
Our server even wore her batman shirt for the private event.

I think the newbies were kinda blown away by a beer drinking, pizza noshing vintage action figure show and swap....I think the next Mego Eat is gonna go big...public morning swap meet followed by a private mego lunch...thank you everyone!

the last pic is of me getting $100 for my luke i had in my junk/free bin!
turns out its an early bird telescoping luke, i was so thankful the star wars collector pointed that out i sold it to him for less than its $250 retail!
other pics include pmwasson enjoying his Big Jim haul, Dino was lucky to get the captain action AND a two CA batman outfits and accessories in exchange for a Shazam doll (I'm jealous!), CapnMike with server, and random pics of stuff on tables... I really forgot to take more pics... The red fancy tablecloths on the wood tables was a nice touch, classy affair!

Everything that was brought by me was open to trade...but only in person!
You gotta fly up here and work me! I'm trying to build up attendance!

I don't know about the beer, I was cut off after my fifth one. And nobody, I mean NOBODY stopped me from bartering! The great thing is that members bring both stuff for trade and NFS stuff just to show off. I had no plan to trade my original 'Shazam', but hey, someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse! The generousity and brotherhood of Mego-Eat, is to die for.
Next time, I'm bringing a fifth of "Jack", and everyone is going to suffer. Oh no, Mike, I just want a soda.

I hear ya Dr. Quest, in fact I probably coulda got a LOT more but hey, I got it for a buck, and I was keen on giving a deal to a local star wars fanatic who hopefully will brag to his fellow SW buddies about his big score at the "Maygo-Eat" and inspire more attendees for Mego Eat 3 in March...
Plus I think of Tmanstoys and his previous (I shall paraphrase here) lament of all the toy pickers out there grabbing all the good garage sale finds and selling full blown retail and making it tough for a regular joe to find their nostagia in the wild. I try to be that middle ground toy picker, find a score, and sell it at maybe 50% retail, cuz i'm a semi-broke collector myself...In fact I enjoy regularly racing against the professional toy pickers at shows so i can sell cheap to you guys on mm

Here are some more pics from the day...love the custom mego eat coffee mug
pmwasson had his machine cutting personalized vinyl clings
young lady* with her very own custom Nosferatu courtesy of D
(*my fellow picker is a big collector of Disney land Haunted Mansion vintage stuff, contact me if you have something)

so, I was thinking March for the next gathering, roughly every six months...talked to Dino about making me a nice poster and flyers to hand out at the November vintage Toy show in PDX. No date will be secured until the entire original gang has been consulted...

Wow Mike! Nice shot of my customs box!

I'm sorry I forgot my camera this time. We could have taken so many WIP pics. I need to make up for this oversight at the March event.

That's that same young lady that got a Frankenhead from me at the first Eat. She got herself a dr_cyclops Nosferatu proto-type there! Girls who love monster toys..., what's not to love?

I think it's great that there finally is another Mego gathering. So many talked about doing one here or there and you actually pulled it off... again! Maybe next year, I can time my Portland trip around it. (but I usually go in July). thanks for sharing the pics.
