My complete Steve Goalgetter Set

On a separate note- THIS is how Leeds became my side club. Chris Johnson brought a close-to-complete loose set to a Mego Meet in Wheeling. He had little information on the teams. Knowing that I'm a big soccer fan, he asked me to identify which kit was from which club. It was pretty easy with one exception- what was that white jersey with the weird little yellow "U"? It took me a while to realize it was actually an "L" and a "U". I figured it was Leeds Utd., but I was not familiar with this oh-so-70s badge. It was love at first sight. And while my first club is and always will be City, I couldn't help but start following Leeds, too. I even have a reproduction of this particular Leeds jersey! -
Congratulations on a very cool set completion, and never giving up on your quest for the elusive sock.Leave a comment:

Fantastic! As someone who has wanted a certain pair of Mego boots for over a decade, I understand your desire and admire your dedication.Leave a comment:

White Socks.jpg
It took me 10 years to complete this Steve Goalgetter set with all team outfits minus 1 white sock. The white socks came with the Celtic and Chelsea team outfits. Getting the white sock took me a further 11 years, lol. Not from lack of trying but someone would always outbid on these and for a while the prices on these loose outfits went very high. So I am now pleased to say that my ocd has been abated and I now have a complete all original set of loose Steve Goalgetter outfits, socks, boots and all.Leave a comment:

That's awesome! I had no idea there were that many variations on the uniforms.Leave a comment:

Sooooooo envious! A great set I haven't even tried to begin to collect given the difficulty. Thanks for adding to tipping my pre-World Cup excitement/apprehension a little more towards excitement.
I was lucky enough to see Chris Johnson's set when he brought them to Mego Meet a couple years back. If I did customs, I would do custom retro jerseys like Barcelona away from '71 or the Philadelphia Atoms '73 (NASL. my hometown).Last edited by Wee67; Jun 12, '14, 1:30 PM.Leave a comment:

Beautiful set, Clem! Great looking figures.
Reminds me a bit of the 1970s NFL Teammates figures and their football field.

Yes Rob, they are real teams and very accurate to the team outfits of 1977. There is a lot of detail to these right down to the stripes in the socks and the club badges and also kit sponsors. There are two international team outfits England and Scotland and the other eight are club teams, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Leeds, Arsenal, Glasgow Rangers, Celtic and my home team which i have supported since childhood Liverpool. Liverpool were the kings of Europe during this period, so to me the combination of my favorite team and the Mego connection is just awesome.
The top pic has them all standing with Steve Goalgetter Game. Also i definitely think Steve Goalgetter was fashioned after Gareth Hunt of the TV Avengers and not the Baker Doctor Who figure.
