    Favorite Mego Toy

    Know that I am back.
What is your favorite Mego Toys.
Me, I have a few, the first one is a Comic Action SpiderMan with a broke leg with stand, I got from a childhood friend who is no longer with us. The first brand new one a Yellow Micronaut Time Travel. The last store bought new are four Eagle Force that I got at a Toys R Us for $.33 each on clearance back in 1987. Lastly a unopenned rack pack, (not mint condition) of Mego producted, (Mego in the white circle logo on header card) Little Green Army Men from their Pre 8inch WGSH days, that I found on ebay a few years ago. I still have them all.

I agree with Mike, the next mego is always the favourite.

          Welcome back!

My 4 favorite Mego list is:

Always Mego and CIPSA Planet of the Apes Toys but when it's full in my collection then will be next to TOS Star Trek crew and Aliens Toys then next to Western Heroes with Dodge City playset and then some of loose, minty WGSH Toys with repro boxes.

          BTW,

I've already posted 4 times about me when I was kid I had some of Megos in this Mego Buzz threads, can't post again.

I have and will love the Wayne Foundation. It was the first big display made for super-hero figures and now is hard to find complete.

Nothing will surpass my childhood Spidey, the last of my "originals", that is 100% mine from childhood. Had him since I was six, you can't beat that.

As a kid it was the Batlab. As an adult it was the Wayne Foundation.

Whenever someone does a "favorites" thread, I always go between 3-5 figures; Neptunian, Wolfman, Ivanhoe, Robin Hood, Etc... But lately I've been thinkin... One hero is red & blue, another hero is green & yellow, one figure has purple cloths and another has olive drab cloths... I just recently reorganized my cabinet full of Mego figures, and while they were all laying crowded on my bed, I thought to myself, "...the whole collection is greater than the sum of its parts..." I think what I like is having a nearly complete, (or what I'm content to define as complete) collection of figures. Just seeing them all laying there, with all the outfit colors, their accessories, and the look on all their faces, made me think, "Man, I sure am lucky to have all these Megos; the best action figures ever made..." So I guess what I'm saying is that, while in the past i've singled out figures as my favorites, right now, my collection is my favorite... They each compliment each other, and the whole collection is greater than the sum of its parts...

I'm partial to the 12" line of vintage mego figures. And I believe Spiderman, Hulk, and Robin, as well as the KISS guys are way too cool!

One of my favorites is Robin. Not only was he my favorite comic character, (I was the 3rd of 4 brothers, so got use to playing the sidekick) but one of the things that I loved about the figure, was his little squishy booties. Don't ask me why, but those little rubbery shoes always stuck out in my mind. Maybe it's the fact that they were so unique to him (never had the Joker or Penguin) and had that perfect, almost neon, green color... almost like little pieces of chewing gum. I know it's weird, but it puts a smile on my face.

But, I think if I had to pick only one, it would have to be my 12" magnetic Robin. One year, my mother bought me the magnetic Robin and my brother the Batman for Christmas. But, I bet she turned out regretting that just a little. I can still remember repeatedly taking them and tossing them at the fridge and watching them stick to it. Seeing them slide down the front of the door until the magnets would grab hold. The last time I saw that fridge it had hundreds of little scratches running up and down the front of it.

I took him everywhere... he hung from the lamp next to the bed at night... remained firmly attached to the back of my tricycle, as I rode it around the block... and went into the bathtub too. For as much as I played with him, it's amazing he's in as good shape today. Sure his emblem is only a memory and he's missing his belt and gauntlets, his magnets are a bit rusty and one leg has been bolted on... but overall, he's fared better than my brother's Batman. I still have him, and all those memories... so maybe my mother doesn't regret getting them after all.

He's not just my favorite Mego, but he is my favorite toy... and represents a piece of my childhood, that I was never willing to let go of, and I don't think I ever will...
