Type in "light blue purse" in Doctor Mego's search window...that's the tricorder

Yeah, that's one of my two beefs with his site. His descriptions need to be closer to the "real" thing. Shaver for communicator? How does he expect customers to find anything?

The other thing is that the home page says he accepts PayPal for purchases. But when you "check out", PayPal is not an option to use. After messing around with the system for 15 minutes, I gave up trying to order.

He has to use descriptions because of the C & D letters he got from Paramont Attys. Use the COD option and then he'll send you an email to pay via paypal.

I figured that he probably ran into some legal entanglements. But wouldn't it be better to say something like "starship communications device" or anything that would be better than "shaver" and "purse"?

That confused me too, but I called him and he said to just select the COD option and the next screen will display the Paypal instruction, which it did. I use it whenever I order with him and his service has been reasonably fast.

I just made my first purchase from his site and I was impressed with the shipping time. I bought my Romulan on 2-16 (Saturday) and it arrived on 2-22 (Friday).

                Wise4671 I sent you a pm about a tricorder.

Had I known that the PayPal option would have shown up when using the COD option, I would have used it. But since it isn't explained...

It needs to be a little more "user friendly". I was going to use the CC option but the secureness looked a little "off" to me. Has anyone used his secure server for CC purchases?

I agree that although the terminology may not be exactly politically correct I would much rather type in "shaver" or "purse" rather than "starship communications device" each time I placed an order. No offense.

I know exactly what you mean. I had ordered a couple of times before a while back and I knew that PayPal was accepted there. I found out about the PayPal/C.O.D. by experimenting with the different links. It would have been nice to share this knowledge perhaps a bit better on the site for those that still do not know yet.

                              Hey,
the problem with sharing that information is that, with the ease of being anonymous behind the internet, Dr. Mego does not know who anyone really is. Is this person someone who truely wants something, or is this person just a plant by one of the major companies to try and trip him up and nail him with another Cease and Desist letter, or, even worse, shut him down.
You can ask anyone on this board about C & D letters. There are some who sell repro or custom items here that went underground because of it, some who have very restricted access to their sites because of it, and some who stopped altogether. Dr. Mego has done his best to try to stay as visible as possible while, at the same time, walking the fine line between offering a service and facing copyright infringement proceedings.
That is one of the reasons why this site is here. One question asked and you get an answer on how to navigate this area.
Please do not be too hard on Dr. Mego. I know him personally and can vouch for him 100%. He makes almost no money off of his repros, in the end, and has put up with more crap and namecalling than most people would be willing to even think about. His drive to continue his service has finally led to the EMCE/Diamond retro lines, something that we here on the site have been talking about wanting forever, but it was his willingness to slave at this for the last 15 + years that brought it about. You got to give the guy credit, and I ask that you also give him some slack.
