    question on 12" spiderman

I'm sure someone here might be able to solve this. As a kid I had the 12" version of Spiderman and would like to find one of those someday. Now here's the problem: my figure was original mego, but not as muscular as some I have seen on eBay nowadays. Back then I also had superman which was different, pretty much same height, but more muscular. I'm starting to believe there was two versions, pretty much like what happened with the KISS figures, although the body of my Spiderman was not at all like the 1st generation of KISS figures. Anybody in the know?

There were two versions, skinny and muscular. I think the skinny version is a little more rare than the muscular version.

Thanks for the reply, Iron Mego.
And do you know if there is some detail to quickly distinguish one from another. I mean, hands are different, etc? Sometimes pictures on eBay aren't the best, and thought some hints might help my eventual search.

Hmmmm.... that's a good question. I know it's easy once you see the two kinds of bodies next to each other, but sometimes you get less than stellar pics of a figure that make it tough to tell.

Exactly, Don. And that's what I'm trying to spot before making any mistakes when buying one.

on the skinny figure, the shoulders are way slimmer than the muscle body. I'd say the skinny body looks "natural". also the 12" skinny body has a pointing finger, a kind of "yeah, over there." pose.

Here are 2 on eBay right now that have decent pics.

the shot from behind w/ the shadow will help show the hand shape.

            another w/ clear shots.

              Thanks justzeg18!
I kinda noticed the pointing finger, but what confused me is the fact that MKII KISS figures are all muscular and have that pointing fingers as well.
Now I know how to spot the correct figure. Thanks!
You all have a great weekend!

There's always confusion about this because two different style 12" bodies are often referred to as "skinny bodies". The KISS figures you are mentioning here use what I call "standard" bodies, with the pointing finger. The Spidey you are looking for has the same body as these. "Muscle" bodies are bulkier than the KISS ones had have no pointing finger. The "skinny" body KISS figures use a completely different body (with non-articulated arms and legs) and that body is different than the one used for the figure that people often call the "skinny" Spider-man. Clear as mud, right?
