Cast-A-Way launches Type S Kick Starter Campaign

    * 2014 is the 40th anniversary of the body that changed a generation!*What better way to celebrate that than to have a truly new 8 inch body that captures the iconic look but also brings it into the future?!* * David Lee (Cast-a-way toys: The Phantom, Captain Action, and customizing accessories) and Craig Owen (ZICA*toys, Buck Rogers, and the all new Yvonne super articulated female body) have put their expertise together for the first time to create an all new retro body! Two trusted names in 8 inch figures united to bring you the*Type “S” body!   ·*The Mego Aesthetic:*Since 1974 no other 8 inch body has had the staying power of this classic design. When you think retro 8 inch scale figures,*you think*the type 2 Mego body. The success of the re-mego movement has been tied closely to this design, because it captures the charm of the 70’s and yet it’s still timeless and as versatile as any modern action-figure. We knew we wanted to capture the classic look of the Type 2, so there was no doubt for the look of this new body. ·*Superior Construction:*If the Mego type 2 has any faults it’s its rubber band construction. Wow, this seems to be the perfect evolution to the T2 body. Articulation was what brought me back to Megos as an adult and these seem to take that to the next level. I would have loved to get this upgrade as a kid.

Sounds great from the reading. Dave- can you explain a little more? From the reading I gathered that the new bodies will NOT have hooks & rubber bands connecting the joints, is that correct? And "Solid". Does this mean that the body, or chest is solid, but the chest screws together AFTER you put whatever head on? Can you explain this a little more? If I'm understanding correctly, it sounds like a great project...

You got it bro! Solid just referes to the fact that it does not rely on rubber bands for tension, each component is held btween the halves. The chest (two semi hollow peices) screws together and all the contents are held inside. This alleviates the tension of the rubber bands all pulling against the body and also allows for the arms and legs to move independently from each other. The added articulation in the shoulder is more like a modern action figure, like wrestling figures or newer 12 inch figures.

Can't wait to see your new bodies, Doc. But I want to see Castaway succeed and rise like a Phoenix. They really had a terrible run of luck, and deserve to succeed.

Plus, friendly competition is healthy for both companies!
