I was born in 72 so I had a mixed bag of everything. I vaguely remember having 8 inch Batman and Robin around 1977 or so, but mainly I remember from 1979-80 having Spider-Man, Hulk and the Spider-Car. I also had pocket Hulk and Batman, the 12 inch Hulk, and lastly the 3 3/4 Bo and Luke Duke and General Lee and a Buck Rogers Tigerman.

I was born in 1972. I had Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman, plus the Batmobile and the Spider-Mobile. I THINK I had Robin, Joker, Penguin, and the Green Goblin as well... but I was really young, like, 3 or 4 years old, and it's hard to remember it all clearly.

I remember being in the store a few times (I think it was Sears) and getting to pick out a Mego figure. I was strongly tempted by Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, but in the end I always ended up picking a comic book hero instead.

I also had a ton of Micronauts, which I really loved.

As a child of the early sixties I was about 12 when Megos came out and my parents didn't get me any. I really wanted some when i saw an add for the Teen Titans.
Still didn't get any. After i graduated High School and started working i bought my only Mego i saw in a store, a left over Spock. It was my Only Mego for years.
Even after meeting Doc Mego at a con i didn't start collecting Mego's for another decade. Then i finally decided to get my Titans and Green Arrow and have been going nuts ever since.

So to answer your question, No, you are not alone.

Was born in '82 and didn't own my first mego until I was 17. Probably never saw one in person until the early 90's.

I was born on July 8th, 1966, so I was part of the Mego generation! Since I'm a girl, I had more of an interest in dolls back then. The only 8" Megos I owned was a pair of black AJs, but I also had a Mego Dancing Lainie doll. However, I loved watching cartoons after school and LOVED all the Mego ads. They were like mini cartoons, but w/ action figures. Not to mention I had friends w/ brothers, so they had them as well. At a toy show in 1991, I found a Tarzan dressed in LJN blues (probably Rookies) w/ an extra AJ dark blue jumpsuit, and a naked Superman who got the extra jumpsuit. I knew these were Megos, but the memory was a bit hazy on the facemold, so I just dubbed both of these guys Action Jackson. Later I also found a General Ursus and Cornelius figures. The kids I babysat at that time loved having adventures w/ AJ and the Apes.

I was born February 14 1967. Mego & Lego were a big part of my childhood. Like several stories here, I was also "derailed" by the Star Wars craze, & I wasn't smart enough at the time to ignore the 3 3/4 inch figures and stick with the superior Mego figures. My folks were great enough to get me a little of pretty much every Mego line. The only complete line I can remember having is Planet of the Apes and Mad Monsters. I also remember being embarrassed one time, because my mom & I couldn't find the Mego Superheros at a store, so my mom asked an employee where they were. The employee got on the intercom & asked co-workers where the superhero action figures were. I can remember several people looking at me when his question was intercom-ed throughout the whole store! I thought everyone probably thought I was a dork for playing with dolls! It's funny that I still remember that day...

I didn't. I got into Megos because I very vividly remember my dad's collection of them (which, I'm pretty sure he still has boxed up somewhere) as a kid. They were always in the 'no-touch' collection...

I have a pretty weird collection for my age- I love the stuff I had as a kid, but I have a tremendous appreciate for the history of toys in general. I played with a ton of 3 3/4 Joes, but my personal collection consists mainly of 12 inch originals. My parents are collectors and are the same way- they collect and appreciate things well before their 'time' just as much as the stuff from their generations.

I had never owned an 8" Mego action figure, mainly because the scale of my toys was already established in the very late 60's. I had rubber jigglers, who were generally 4-1/2" to 6" tall and not quite proportioned like normal human beings (because most of them were NOT human beings! They were bears, apes, frogs, rats and monsters).

That said, I was an admirer of MEGOs, especially the Action Jackson line (about 1971), My Dad bought us Action Jackson outfits, and Action Jackson accessories such as the Treehouse, for us to play with using our jigglers. I remember the AJ stuff being much better proportioned for them, compared to the 12" Gi Joe stuff.

Alas, all of my old AJ stuff is long gone, tossed out around 1975 or so.

About 2 years ago, I made a re-creation of the AJ treehouse, scaled down to the 4-1/2" to 6" figures, including the crow's nest and ladder, the tiki head, and the Zulu shield and spear. I even managed to find a $1.50 flashlight that sort-of looks like the searchlight. So, in a way, the spirit of my old Action Jackson stuff still lives on!

No. Neither did I. The pre-Micronauts Mego's were less action figure and more DOLL like to interest me as a kid. Not to pick on Mego, but basically any doll, er, 'action figure' that had different outfits, etc., were way too Barbie for me.

Well, I was born in 1973. Older brother had the 6 Million Dollar Man, Evel Knevil, G.I. Joe stuff, while I was raised on Adventure People, Star Wars, Micronauts, Metal Man, Shogun Warriors, etc.
