    Re-Mego rant to all

I put this in Buzz because it's not a reMego company specific rant - and I don't want to favor one over the other.

I can't stand when companies SAVE good characters for future waves only to have the line cancelled and we're left with mediocre figure filler.

I'm no great business man but I think a line should put it's best feet forward from the beginning.

Don't worry about tomorrow, be the best you can be today.

It is a strategy MANY companies use. I don't fully understand it myself, but know its common.

This was the philosophy in the old days - worry about selling the line first.
Then if it's successful, you can round it out with B team characters while
stilling keeping the A team in production giving the kids who bought the
initial wave new characters to buy, and new kids the chance to get on board.

Toy companies now are looking at a different landscape of two product releases
a year as opposed to one and the certainity that they need to save A list characters
in reserve to keep interest in the line.

It's a marathon, not a sprint these days.

I can see you point, but on the other hand, if you get all the good stuff upfront...what do you have to keep people interested...the line may just peter out after a wave or two. That being said, I too want the Yvonne Craig Batgril. And would have LOVED to get a Hawk.

I don't want to put any specific company in the hot seat but that's a killer example of what i'm talking about

I can see both sides of it. I think back to a classic line like Super Powers. I loved that Kenner put pretty much all of DC's A and B heroes in the first series of that line, but maybe the line would have lasted longer had they saved back Hawkman and Green Lantern for Wave 2, and moved Green Arrow and Firestorm to wave 3 or something like that.

I'm not sure I agree that, that is a good example. Buck and Tigerman are hardly "B" characters. That said, I still would have loved to see a Hawk figure.

When development was being done on this line the first two figures that were finished and ready to go into production were Buck and Tigerman. Kane, Hawk and the Draconian Guard were still being tweaked. I thought Tigerman was a great figure to start the line with. He was an enemy of Buck's on the show, and the level of detail on the figure was second only to the Draconian Guard. I definitely don't consider the character to be "mediocre figure filler".

My pet peeve remains how online stores sell two figures as a set, so if you want only one of em, you go to eBay.

True, and usually one of the two is less popular and it's sale relies on most people wanting the other one.

It's like, just make 2 good ones

                      Made up example ....

If you want a Jesus figure you must also get a leper figure

I dread to think what its action feature would be!

Leper figures would be a good way for CTVT to clear out the old fall apart bodies.

Yeah, I don't see Tigerman as a B character. He was Buck's foil nearly every ep w/Ardala. He was like a season 1 recurring character. Hawk "might" be more popular. More people seem to lament his no-release than any other proposed figure.
