As a matter of fact I've been puzzled by that myself. The only explanation I can offer is that Ron (the sculptor) didn't bother to put that detail into the clay, but added it later to the wax. I forgot to mention that after the clay sculpt, an RTV mold was poured and into that a wax. The wax would be cleaned up and details sharpened prior to sending it to the roto mold maker. Of course the wax was lost during the mold making process. It would have been melted out of the copper roto mold. If and when I find the roto mold, you will see that the only opening is in the neck plug area, which is too narrow to extract anything but the soft vinyl roto piece. From what I understand, even that comes out somewhat distorted, but after a dip in hot water regains its shape, as vinyl has a memory.Leave a comment:

Does it seem that the flesh colored vinyl head seems to have more detail in the hair than the clay sculpt?Leave a comment:

It's cool to see that these early sculpts also have tiny holes and issues just like our modern custom counterparts.Leave a comment:

I'm a fan of the line, so it is great seeing something like this (and something I never thought I would see!). Keep that thing safe Tory, and thanks for sharing! (and I hope you can find the roto-mold)Leave a comment:

Harry was always one of my fav figs from the 12" line.
I just always thought his head was too big for his body.
Cool find
