-> Your secret pain - paying too much

When you started in the game of collecting did you ever pay WAY too much for something and after you became a seasoned collector you can't stand even looking at your overpriced score anymore ?

Perhaps you even had to sell it (at a loss) because it reminds you of how much you were taken ?

This has happened to me a few times

Yes ,but not to much more, sometimes you get suprised about what things go for,i bought a health spa Dinah in
great shape for $60,with $20 shipping,i thought thats what they go for, then awhile later i buy another health spa Dinah with
the playset & box for $56,so now i kinda feel things out check the Going rate at this site, and on my watch list.i have
seen some fantastic buys, thinking that buyer will never get near that!,other times WoW! that guy paid $$$ for that, you
    never can tell ,its interesting.

I could see paying a little extra if the original box and instructions(not photocopied)are included.

I think I have a couple items in my collection for which I now feel I overpaid a bit. But they were hard to find items that don't come up for sale very often, so it was a bit harder to put an accurate price on them. I feel that if I needed to sell those particular items someday, I'd probably have to take a loss (they are hard to find, but not in huge demand), but I like the toys and don't plan on selling them anytime soon, so I'm ok with that. Besides, I've gotten great deals on many other toys in my collection, so it all balances out in the end.

          no, never had that happen

actually, wile it annoys me when it happens, i don't dwell on it. i just move on and hopefully learn from it. I actually tend to be very patient about getting things on my wish list and will keep waiting until I find a better price/auction, whatever.

I have learned toys are only over priced if you buy them thinking you can sell them later and put your kids through collage. If you buy them for the sheer joy, who can put a price on joy? I have spent 100's on stuff someone else may not spend $5 on. With toys, true pleasure is in the eye of the beholder. If you dig what you bought, then you got your money's worth.

I agree. People, that includes me...have paid for what they want.
PEOPLE BUY WHAT THEY WANT AND PAY WHAT THEY WANT.
