Wouldn't it be neat to have a new female collector doll friendly forum here?

My daughter is seven and it got me wondering if mego museum could do more to increase female attendance to this site. I was thinking like a new separate forum for discussion on those mego girl friendly lines like maddie mod, dinah and such. Plus poor toys2cool keeps wandering around mm scrounging for American Girl Dolls and we all can't help him (!). Contemporary Monster High is cool, too, maybe it can be a general forum on girl friendly collectibles in general.
As a mego collector, I have found the most success in the wild trading for megos with both older Barbie collectors (who are mostly female) and also with the younger female collectors of the more contemporary stuff that is useful for customizing projects. In other words, we are shutting out cool new avenues for megos by not being more.... girl collectible friendly?

And yes I realize I'm speaking in generalities, guys collect this stuff too and vice versa gals collect action figures, but when I do see girl friendly collectibles discussed here its sometimes as an afterthought to the main topic.

I dunno, maybe its not a functional idea. My daughter is building her own board game presently and using her mini MLP's* and trying to attach toy chainsaws and rocket launchers to them to make some crazy role playing game and it got me thinkin' on this subject...

I'm pretty sure this is a dead giveaway that your daughter is awesome. I can only hope that my future offspring will do this... too awesome!

Speaking as a girl, I dunno...I mean, there are plenty of forums and doll sites that are out there, (I love Doll Diaries myself!), and there are customizing parts available for female Megos on Doc's and CTVT. I know there are mainly guys here, and that's OK. Megos are primarily action figures and more guys are attracted to these than girls. I'm OK w/ that. An action figure board has a different feel and mood than a doll board. As for Damien and the American Girl thing, I can direct him to lotsa different boards and blogs!

Yeah, mvanis, my heart warmed to see her putting this together herself! She is imitating a similar handmade game she saw at Gamestorm 15 at the Hilton in Vancouver this past weekend (we stumbled upon it while I was doing business there). She painted the large piece of wood I provided for her as the base. She asked for molding clay and I happily went to the craft store and bought her a 10 lb. block. I will post pics when finished either here or on the custom forum. And thanks for the Doll Diaries heads up, hardygirl. When and if my daughter asks I will send her there.

That's how it started with me! Parents and family, buying me art supplies like there was no tomorrow. Telling me I was good, when I wasn't. They lied, and pushed me into something I really like. Oh, how I love 'em for it.

Your daughter sounds cool. I started of doing 12" girls [skateboarding/surfing female heroes]. Give the little sweetheart plasticine, encourage her to draw and handsewing clothes for Bratz dolls can't hurt. Get her to understand that grrrls that sew can wear/own clothes NO ONE else does !

I'm not against it, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea, both for (young) girls and us (older collectors).

I think both groups may be a bit too far removed from each other to balance it all out.
Group I (young girls) would be better off not reading about some of the more adult topics we discuss, so the mods would have to section off a lot (big job). Group II (current members) would have to think more about what they're saying, making sure it's suitable for group I.

It's like finding a common ground for My Little Pony and Hellraiser. You end up with My Little Pinhead, which may not appeal to anyone...

Sadly, other toy sites have tried this but they don't last long.

It's a great idea but the problem is Mego doesn't really have a big iconic girls toy line to bring people in. Candi or Dinah just doesn't have the same draw as Barbie or Jem.

maybe it can be a general forum on girl friendly collectibles in general.
When I do threads on classic girls lines like Jem or Strawberry Shortcake they generally don't get a lot of interest. So, there probably wouldn't be enough activity for a girls toys forum and separating girls toys from the modern or classic toys forums would probably mean the threads about them would get even less interest, unfortunately.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
