Action Jackson TNG...Find a new head for AJ

The worst thing about AJ was his face. Man, that little guy was ugly. Red or blond, or brunette,bearded or cleanshaven, he gives Chopper a close race as the creepiest looking Mego dude. My favorite AJ ad was the Baraveli one where they used Bruce Wayne instead of AJ.
I choose Lancelot as the new AJ. Good strong, chin, nice nose, hair in the timeless generic and tousled style. Maybe Little John as the bearded AJ. LJN Deacon works great for the AA AJ.

at one point mego sold 2/ and a half million action jackson figures ,so he cant be that ugly,that being said,i wouldnt let him date my supergirl.

I would venture to say that 2.5 million were sold to distributors, not necessarily sold to people. I think this theory is supported by the unopened cases that keep appearing. I mean sure I had one as a kid, the unbearded brunette. But he looks like a creepy janitor.

Well i think beady eye painted face Batman is ugly, but its what makes Mego, Mego. AJ is no different. AJ sculpt is ugly but he is distinctively AJ.

I have a real fondness for Action Jackson and his head sculpt. But I can also understand why some would not. He is somewhat eclectic in appearance. But that for me is where his appeal and charm comes from. You can't ever mistaken Action Jackson with the rest of the lot. He's his own man. I have great memories of him and he was one of first lines I sought out and recollected in the boxes. Thank God I did that early on because these days it seems the AJ supply has dried up considerably. Loose and boxed figures go for alot more. Twelve to fifteen years ago they went for a song.

In the unboxing thread, I was struck yet again by the difference between the box art depiction of Action Jackson and the actual figure. I think the Astronaut looks more like box art AJ.

The original head a very Euro feel, imo.

But as to the original question, for me it depends on the outfit and what you're picturing the line as. Chopper is actually really good for a few of them. Jet Jungle could work. The best heads would actually be the Lion Rock Johnny Action/Combat Man, if the outfits weren't too big.

Well, Playing Mantis tried to re-do AJ and FAILED. I will always love Mego AJ...not only b/c he was my first action figure ever, but b/c he has a distinct look all his own. I wish I kept my frist guy, b/c I think he was a variant. Although he was a black AJ, he had the smaller nose of the white AJ and a lighter shade of brown (kinda like me!). My 2nd black AJ didn't like just like him. I wonder if that was a mistake, or someone was just fooling around?

HardyGirl, there are hispanic looking AJs, mostly found (so far) in Italy. Same AJ face sculpt, but much darker skin. I'm sure the skin tone was more factory error than done for ethnicity though, but I have a couple.

I agree on the Potanaut looking more like he box art. Only reason I went with Lance instead of Pnaut was the giant 70's Hair-Met that Pnaut has. Lance just has a more timeless look to him. And good grief get rid of that baggy jumpsuit. Use a light blue Dm jumpsuit turned around backwards with a collar sewn in.

HardyGirl, there are hispanic looking AJs, mostly found (so far) in Italy. Same AJ face sculpt, but much darker skin. I'm sure the skin tone was more factory error than done for ethnicity though, but I have a couple.
