I'd pay $20 for the ones I want (and probably even more for brand new well done sculpts and characters), and I expect most of us would as well, at least if they were distributed over a period of time and not all at once. Of course that would limit the appeal to mainly adult higher end collectors and not the true market for a large distribution toy, kids and casual collectors alike.
I think that these figures would probably end up retailing below the $10 price point if done as a mass market rollout, and I think that price point could easily be supported if done right, with a common maker of Marvel and DC product, under a common product banner like WGSH. This is truly the only model I can see working well, and hopefully being extended to other popular licenses, including major movie releases and cartoon characters. Whatever the hot licenses are that could fit into the interchangeability model Mego made so popular, and toys like MiniMates has borrowed so successfully.
I would think the most likely scenario however would be someone getting the license from one of the two companies, not being able to use the WGSH banner, and ending up in the similar dreaded price point around $15.
