ANY inside information about Mego is fascinating, having you stop is a virtual goldmine! Thanks for taking the time to share some of your history.
Tory, i missed your interview - How did you come to work at Mego? Have you worked on other toys since Mego?
Since I am still trying to get the hang of navigating this website, maybe one of the more learned members can stear you to the interview.
Long story short, my dad was working there and helped me find my way in. And yes, I've worked for many, many toy companies since Mego, including Fisher Price, where I currently hang my hat.
For the record:
Mego
Gabriel
Buddy L (twice)
LJN
Tyco
Shelcore
Toy Biz
Fisher Price
Outside of the three years I spent at Monet Jewelry, the last thirty years have been in toys.
Welcome aboard Tony. It's honor to have you here and share your memories with us. Future generations will benefit from your memories and these prototypes, which are now a part of the MegoMuseum
"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan Poe
Out of all the different toy lines I collect, this is the first time I've seen someone who worked in creating one of the lines be a member of a collectible message board ... so very cool to have you here
Welcome aboard! or Relax. Stay a while! or the humorous Don't worry - We don't bite! but I'll just say SEAGRAFSULAK!!! Pretty much says it all don't you think?
Oh - by the way - "Come on in - the waters warm!" and "Warning: There's NO turning back!!!" yukyukyuk
Thanks again folks! It is very nice to be among friends. I hope I can contribute some "insider" insights.
Please feel free to ask away, if I know it I'll say it if I don't I'll tell you. My 47 year old memory is a lot like my car...sometimes it works like a charm and sometimes...well lets just say it isn't the most reliable thing on the planet!
Welcome, I worked/managed several Toys RUs stores over about a 7 years span and I have to say FISHER PRICE was and is still the greatest toy brand that is in more demand than people often think. Working in the trenches at Xmas time parents wanted the rescue heroes more than the " boy" action figures. What kinds of things do you do now at Fisher Price? Please say you didn't have anything to do with tickle me elmos..lol
