I absolutely loved my 12" Hulk as a kid, so it's hard to feel cheated in any way that it wasn't a Ferrigno version. I'm just surprised how many folks are thinking the same as me, that never happens.....

^Me too! Gotta see that Hulk...this just became the whole selling point of the issue for me.
That being said, I actually AM disappointed they never made an official Lou Ferrigno Hulk figure. Marvel never really used his or Bill Bixby's likeness on ANY merchandise back then, which was a shame. They definitely deserved it.
An official TV series lunchbox would have been great too, and something I plan to remedy someday with my hand painted version.Last edited by enyawd72; Jan 21, '13, 9:15 PM.Comment

I wonder how they would've painted the eyes, if they would've done the creepy white contact lenses.
Mego zine is fantastic, and it left me wanting much more. Wish it would come out monthly! Obviously that's not feasible, but it really is nifty to have a magazine dedicated to Mego, as simplistic as that sounds.Comment

I was lucky enough to see the prototype in person, and I loved it. The twelve inch Mego figures aren't even my thing - though I have the ones I had as a kid - and while I dig the existing Hulk, if this had been made I would HAVE to have it. As it was, even though it is outside my wheelhouse, my first reaction was "WANT"!Comment

The Mego sculpt didn't look enough like Ferrigno to make me wish it was made.
The Megozine was a fun read. I loved it cover-to-cover. The rare pix are incredible. Thankfully, I have Rack Toys to get me through until the next issue. BTW, that Rack Toys intro is outstanding. If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.Comment

That stuff's great, and I even have the two magazines, but I don't really consider them merchandising. Where were the puzzles? The boardgame? Action figures? A lunch box? With all the TV properties that got proper toys in the 1970's, the Hulk got the shaft. You can bet every kid in America would've traded 100 Grandpa Waltons for ONE David Banner figure.Comment

I think a Lou Ferrigno likeness would still have been very cool!
This is an adaptation of the prototype, were it painted and resculpted a bit. I still think the prototype is *Amazing*, and a true testament of the art-style of an era. The sculptor should be very proud of her- or himself. I hope that person comes forward one day.
This pic is only a photo-manipulated rendering: A critique with a similar flavour, showing what a circa-1978 sculpture could have looked like with the crazy eyes. Although I like the original squinty-eyes on the original sculpt, I think the prototype's eyes were a bit too far spaced. IMO, the mouth and teeth were too comic book-like. This photoshop creation has Ferrigno's longer chin and more angled snarly lips. The teeth are a B&W rendering of his actual teeth. Some of the hairline is photoshop'ed from an actual CBS picture.Last edited by comicmike; Feb 3, '13, 4:39 PM.Comment
