    Sewing on Mego Snaps

I'm sure there must be a faq doc or thread on how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction.

I have my wife do it. (Sorry, that wasn't helpful.)

I don't recall ever seeing one on snaps. I looked and the closest thing is Dave's article on hand sewing in Customs. I could show you, but I stink at written instructions.

        Thread the needle
Place the snap on the fabric
Take the needle through the fabric and through the first hole, leaving enough at the end for tying off later
work your way around the snap at least twice, your exposed thread pattern should be parallel [ ]
After you go through the fabric the last time, take the needle off the thread, then tie the two ends together

I know that's probably confusing. I can take a couple of pics the next time I do a snap if you wish.

I would say those are good instructions.

I knot the threads-end to start, and then do a back stitch to secure the last stitch before cutting.

Absolutely. And if I didn't have her, I'd ask my mom to do it.

So the general consensus on how to sew snaps is "Get your wife to do it! " Lol

Actually i will get my partner to do it and she is excellent at sewing. I just wanted to know if there was any info documenting a method used to make it as close to how the Mego factory workers would have done it. I may as well get it right because this is going to cost me a lot of dish washing

Dont forget to put it in the right place to. It's annoying to sew them on and find out its to tight or to lose.

That's how I do it,it's like sewing on a button to me.

I can't ask my partner to do it,she aint that good at sewing.

Hope no one thinks I was being sexist. But this is a talent I don't possess, and the two people whom I know that do happen to be my wife and mom.

Don't put the wrong side of the snap against the fabric and sew it on, then you have to do it all over again.
