Wgsh teen titans kid flash orange head varient !?

So I picked up this Kid Flash a few days ago and the first thing I noticed was that his mask color was off....way off. According to the Gallery KF's base paint for the head is yellow but the one I got is orange. Now, I know the first thing that comes to mind is fading but after close inspection with my other Kid Flash, there isn't a spot of yellow on this head and the paint under the wings on either side of the head is also orange (those wings are also much lighter shade or red than the yellow headed one too.) To check all possibilities, I even popped the heads off the body and found one head to be molded/painted all in yellow right down to the plug and the other to be totally orange. One other thing I also noticed on this head is that the face color is different too. The yellow headed one has a more flesh colored skin tone while the orange head has a paler complexion but is in no way a zombie like say a Reed or Sue Richards can get. The face still has a a glossy fleshy color to it. It's just a completely different shade than the yellow head. To makes things even more interesting is the suit is a completely different color in the legs than that of the yellow headed Kid Flash. The yellow headed suit has a bright red hue to to the legs but the orange headed suit clearly has bright orange legs and just like the head, the suit shows no signs of fading and looks to be intentionally designed this way. Here are some (slightly terrible) pics taken from my phone. I can always post some better ones later but I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this one.

I had a gray Speedy head once. I would say it's aging, and not a variant.

I've had a Speedy go gray too but not any other ones. I have a Thing head that's a completely different color orange than any other I've seen. We figured that was also due to greying. Too bad because it's a really cool shade of orange, darker than the original.

Like I said in the initial post, I'm not sure if its graying because of all that I mentioned. Also a gray head wouldn't explain the stark difference in color on the pants.

Very strange. I wonder if someone tried to fix the graying head by using the orange RIT dye technique on it.

To me, it looks like the head grayed, and the pants faded. His flesh looks pretty gray in the pics, but I know they can be misleading. I have seen Zombie Speedy heads as well. Never Kid Flash though.

I could be totally wrong about this though.

I think that either someone tried the plastidip/RIT cure, or it's just some chemical reaction as part of the graying. I would quarantine the head.

So far I've taken all the comments into thought and reexamined the figure but I've only come up with more questions. The Rit Dye is an interesting take as some have suggested but the hair is the same color as the other Speedy. If the face and mask were affected by Dye, the hair would have changed somewhat too. Also the eye/eyebrows are unchanged and as for graying, the theory there would be that the head grayed so much that it turned the entire head from yellow to orange, the wings from red to pink but the face color changed only slightly. Again, I'm not sure what to make of this but it's not dyed and I'm skeptical of saying that it's a fade. Also with color fading like in the Human Torch, the color fades or gets lighter..his head goes from red to flesh color, the KF head here went from bright yellow to a darker orange and that doesn't make sense. Also if it is something as simply as age discoloring the plastic would that be an all encompassing fade or would it leave some spots, like the plug yellow. One last thing I thought of was the pink wings on the side of the head are painted over the orange rubber head. If the head "faded" to orange overtime, wouldn't this just affect the molded yellow portions of the head. Like when a Torch figure loses it's red, the yellow painted flames still stay yellow for the most part. The fading effects the plastic not the paint. So yeah, more questions.... Now is it possible this figure was molded in orange and is just an error or variant figure and there's just not enough KF's out there to get a decent sample? The other thing that no one has mentioned any theories on is the suit. Why is the legs of this suit different than the yellow headed one?

I was thinking of graying/fading as well.

I have seen a Thing head oir two actually darken as it's rubber reacted to air. Perhaps this yellow had a similar chemical reaction. And if it did darken over time, that might have affected to paint either with a chemical reaction or simply by having darker base affect the appearance of the color (though that flesh tone looks like it had some blue added too it rather than more yellow).

It's hard to tell from the pics, but I agree with the person who said it appears the legs look faded.
