Mego Customizing - what a cool hobby

Hi, Just thought I'd post a few thoughts on my recent experience here (I'm new).

I came here as I recently opened my box of 6 Megos which I got off eBay in the 90s. (Those were bought when I was reminiscing back then about my childhood )

I did stumble across the mego museum in the 90s, and so I looked it up again and have joined the forum. I kinda liked the old "marble" look to the gallery, though

Great to see all the stuff people are doing customizing figures, playsets, cards, boxes, etc. And I've learned more about Mego history which fascinates me. (hope to someday find a copy of B. Holcomb's book that won't cost me $250)

I work with computers for a living and play guitar to relax. The Mego stuff is another nice little escape and I've been able to work on things with my daughter, now 9.

I showed her my Megos and explained that they were toys when I was a boy and she exclaimed, "wow, they're really cool! I wish they still made Megos"

Anyway, I've bought some retro action figures and am busy converting them to T2 bodies, used some material I had lying around the house to sew up a black bodysuit just to see if I could do it (verdict: not bad, next one will be perfect!), and spent some time in photoshop , desiging a box I could make that would work with just 8.5x11 paper. (Success!, it's not a perfect repro, but I am busy designing new homes for my collection, even starting to design a counter box in my head)

Just love that Megos give me a bunch of things to do with my daughter! (She's a creative sort and is helping with all my little projects )

Plus, it seems to be a nice friendly group here. thanks for making it a nice place to hang!

Welcome. Mego is a well known name with my kids, too.
    It's all good!

Glad to have you. And I agree with you. The nostalgia for old toys is great, but the great people and projects on here keep it from ever feeling stale.

Welcome, and yes customizing really is a bit of fun and i wouldn't have known about it , if it wasn't for this great site and the folks here.
So glad you're getting to share this with your daughter.
