    Buying At Fairs/Conventions

    Hello all,

Am new to join here, just starting to acquire figures, become educated on values, and wanted to ask advice about buying Megos at venues such as toy fairs or conventions.

Having never attended such things, I wondered if sellers are wont to inflate prices at these kind of gatherings?

Here in Denver, we had our first Comic Con convention last summer and I heard it was a rousing success. Pretty sure vintage toys were in play. 2013 is scheduled, and I hope to attend, and wondered if I should be wary of price gouging from the unscrupulous?

    Thanks for your advice!

I can only speak from my own experience but I think Comic conventions are not as good price wise as toy shows and flea markets.

The big expo here charges demonstrably more for a table than some of the smaller venues do. It goes a long way if you can break table in an hour as opposed to a day and a half.

As a beginner I would suggest you use these places for just window shopping.

9 times out of 10 your best deals will be here on the Museum, Ebay and the occassional fleamarket find.

Conventions are usually good if you're looking for something rare and have plenty of money to spend.

Don't bother looking for $2.00 loose Kirks because you mostly likely wont find any

figure out what stuff you're planning on getting...do some research on ebay of what you can expect to pay nd then compare prices when you get there..You can usually haggle a little on the prices and you can always find a deal or two...But don't expect crazy deals..Most people want to try and make as much as possible at these shows due to the cost of selling there

Keep building up your posts here and when you do buy here on mego museum, pay quickly and communicate throughout the process, and preferably buy from people who have been here a little while. Beware of those who try to sell on their first post. 54,000 posts should help open doors here (joke). Welcome!

Wherever you buy make sure the seller is aware you know your stuff, even if it's just how you look at the item.. I've gotten dealers to knock down prices just but giving the figure a "once over" for a good five minutes.

Brian- Maybe it's time we have a mini Mego Meet here in the Denver/Boulder/Springs front range area. I think there's 4 or 5 Museum members here, so it might be not so bad...

I could be into that sir, long as you and the others don't mind mixing with a novice such as myself.
